Heimaey Promontory, Westmann Islands

The landlady at the guesthouse (I thought it better to find a B&B than to camp out in this weather !) said that the highest point on the Westmann Islands (this is on the way up there) is the windiest place in Iceland, one of the windiest countries anywhere in the world anyway.
With a storm on the way it was blowing at 100kph (ca. 65mph) during this shot (tough to stabilise !) on Heimaey Island and later I was blown off my feet twice, before I reached safety in the lee of the lighthouse at the top ... and then I could have lit a match

That is the Vatnajökull Glacier just visible on the mainland. Iceland’s Vatnajökull glacier is Europe’s largest icecap. Vatnajökull (2,110 m) is the largest glacier in Iceland and it’s also the largest glacier mass in Europe.

Nice work @Wired.

Some new-old gear I've been shooting lately. A Fuji GSW690III. Mechanical, no batteries or light meter and a fixed lens. This version has a 65mm which is about 28mm on small format. It's pretty big... Texas-size big.

Two from yesterday evening in Berlin. I popped in to the Sony store and found a Batis 25 f/2 in the cabinet. It wasn't for sale, it was the demo so had a play, though they wouldn't let me out of the store to try it out with something interesting like the internals of the Sony Centre in Berlin. Love it. It's surprisingly light.

Looking on to Potsdamer Platz:

Hate to correct you Tuco...but this is real "Texas size big." Here in Texas, we know the difference!

Shot that with my Toy Camera Fuji X10......wonderful little machine!

Don't see you around much anymore, sure do miss you and the good ol' days over in the Fuji thread.

All the shots in this thread are wonderful and many are just plain excellent. I need to drop in more often!

Best Regards!

Ha. I think it's a "whoosh" moment there, Rupert. The camera is also known as a "Texas Leica" since it too is a rangefinder but shoots 6x9 medium format (=3:2 aspect). I'd say only your lens is big that picture. The body looks like it is still less than small format which I think is really small for Texas, no?

I've put on a few pounds Tuco, and since it's the shooter that counts, I think I qualify!

Regards!

Yes, it does. Did you also notice I put the colors ( though much warmer hues) of the Texas state flag in the photo?
