Lyon air museum at John Wayne airport is hosting the Colling Foundation for a few days. They are offering walk-throughs and flights. The dual-control P-51 was $2,200 for 1/2 hour. Bombers were about $435. A few years ago I took a flight in the Executive Sweet B-25.

Sky not cooperating!

B-17G Flying Fortress. This one was too late for WWII, and served as a fire-fighter for many years.

B-24J Liberator. This is the only fully-restored B-24J still flying.

B-25 Mitchell bomber. This is the type of bomber used to bomb Tokyo early in WWII.

The gun positions are offset to allow the gunners to move around without bumping into each other.

How do you get such detail at f6.3 and no flash?

In this case there was a lot of direct natural light, so there wasn't a need for a flash. That said, I was at a wider aperture as you noted -- the focal plane is very thin, but I think I just happened to be perpendicular to the fly's body, resulting in a decent amount of it being in focus.

Hike to Green Mountain Lookout located in Glacier Peek Wilderness, Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Washington. Still plenty snow in the mountains.

Brave to get up there in the mountains so early in the season! I've restricted myself to the lowlands still, so far.

A couple more from recent macro outings:

Yeah the hike was much harder trekking through the snow. It taxed my limits. I'm not a young buck anymore to be hiking everywhere I use to.

Lyon air museum at John Wayne airport has a small fixed collection of ground vehicles, including this Russian Ketterad, Steve McQueen's Panther sidecar, and Hitler's M-B parade wagon. For a month or so it is hosting some nice European cars, like this 1938 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedanca DeVille.
