The new Sony DSLR: a mirror that doesn't move

Sony puts the focus on high-speed shooting - British Journal of Photography

Does this mean it's super quiet??

Some dispute the claim it is an 'SLR'. There's no optical viewfinder. More info: Sony SLT-A55 Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review

As quiet as their shutter would be, I guess. I don't have a good point of reference, but the shutter sound of my 5D MkII (i.e., the sound it makes after I put it in Mirror Up mode) is just a noisy/quiet as a K-7 shooting normally.

My first SLR in 1966 was the Canon Pellix with stationary Pellicle mirror , 58mm F1.2 and booster.

KZN Schools Climbing - 2nd Lead Comp | Facebook

These shots were taken (out of desperation due to the K10D not being able to shoot at 3200iso) so these kids could have some shots on facebook - using the stitching/stacking method & also the "sweep panorama mode

The sensor is the sony exmor r - used in their latest p&s.

No critique on photo's - Imo the exmor sensor is quite a revelation
