I don't think Pentax has the market for super tele's...yet. The K-5 might change that.

Would be really good if Pentax does bring at least one super tele out soon!

They're gorgeous and awesome lenses for sure, but they're more bragging rights for the Canon boys more than anything in my opinion.

I'm much more looking forward to the Canon EF 70-300mm L f/4 - f/5.6

Canon launches EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM: Digital Photography Review

I have the 70-200mm now, but I miss the 200 to 300 range I got from my Sigma. This ticks all the boxes:

- L glass
- Image stabilised with silent USM
- fully dust and weathersealed (excellent match for the sealed 7D)
- nice and compact
- excellent zoom range
- will be damn sharp
- cost, RRP is £1400 but likely to drop down to the £1000 level eventually

Shame it loses a stop at the long end, but you can't have everything.

I agree with Big G, they are more bragging rights than anything really. i mean, im sure any lens could be made better, but what is available now is still really damn good. its just a reason for the average canon owner to drool and max out his/her credit card. yay! for seeing more oversized off-white L’s in places where a normal focal length lens is perfectly at home. but canon needs to flex their long telephoto muscle and remind everyone else what market segment they ‘own’.

I'm not quite sure if Canon owns the telephoto market segment, but they definitely do own the "Look!!! I'm an ATTENTION whore!!!" - market's segment with that white color...

Pentax will eventually come out with FA* -like 400 and 500mm lenses. Great looks too! FA* lenses are the Attention Queens!

I wonder if Canon will come out with an updated 1200mm F5.6.
