Hasselblad (film) anyone? Who is using them?

I am interested to find out if there might be some Hasselblad owners around here?
Very curious because my son just emailed me some pics from a friend of his using exclusively an older film-Hasselbald.
The pics are wonderful!

Yup. Hasselblad 503CW + CFE Planar 80/2.8, CF Sonnar 150/4, and a Hasselblad SWC/M. Good stuff.

Thanks! The square is a really different beast; but if/once you're hooked, I presonally think it becomes photographic nirvana :-) Highly recommended.

If really want to go retro(rockets?) heres one for a cool $33K

Buy A NASA Hasselblad Camera

remember writing nasa after Ed White did first space walk, recieved package
about 2 months after with prints of mercury & redstone, gemini & titan and
gemini and (ageena?) docking module. For a 9 or 10 year old wide eye'd kid
its something I'll never forget. All done with a 'Hassy'

With budget cuts nowdays, guess they put hoga's in baggies and hope for best

No doubt about that.

From what I see in different forums, the photos have this special something.
I amnot sure about other "square" models, such as a Pentax 645 or 6 X 7 (square format both? or , as they say "medium") would have the same "impact".

I was really just curious about hese cameras, of course not wanting to get back into film because of the resulting costs involved.
However, I am always a suck for those kinds of pictures.

Thanks for sharing.

Retro cameras, yeah ... but not quite at the asking price of a Hassie like that!
I'd probably go with a digital medium kit for that price! ... no films to develop either.

There's about a dozen of the NASA hassys left up there if anyone wants to go scavenging. They just brought the film mags back.

Yeah, I shoot a Hasselblad 500C/M and a Pentax 6x7 almost exclusively. I shoot my K-7 once in a while. I have some posts in the Medium Format group.

I own some V-series bodies: 500C, 500C/M, 501C and 503CW and the more modern H2 (with film) I haven't had much use for the newer camera bodies I still like to use my 500C/M - the classics never die.

This is so "regular" and consistent to see people who have those medium format cameras which they'll use more foten than any DLSR's they might own as well.

One thing for sure: the images are simply not to compare with other formats.

Well, in my case, I don't have to feed the kids with my photography so I can enjoy shooting the old-school stuff. And secondly, I shoot BW most the time and just prefer to shoot the real thing and have something different than all the imitation, color converted gray scales these days.

Shooting mostly portraits back in the 90's, I never liked the 6x6 square format of them. I always shot 6x7.
