Nikon D3 ISO 3200 Official Sample

I'm linking to the image, as it is a large picture. I got this one from The Online Photographer.

And this is at ISO 3200. Wow.

I'm guessing this sensor is proprietary Nikon.

In the chance that Sony did make the sensor and not Nikon, any chance this technology would trickle down into a future Pentax camera? Or at least would this kind of performance be possible in an APS-C sensor?

BEAUTIFUL! That might be better than what I get at ISO 800 on the K10D. As I read about the new Nikons, I constantly chant,
"My K10D suits my needs, My K10D suits my needs, My K10D suits my needs...." And besides I couldn't afford it! The rest of Mike's post at the onlinephotographer (link above) concerning the D3 is quite good; one of his better posts recenlty. I highly recommend it.

Wow. I can't even begin to think about affording one (I barely made it getting my K100D) but those samples look great. That 6400 ISO picture looks about as clear as my 1600 ISO pictures.

Here are some unofficial shots from D300 at ISO6400. I believe they are the real thing.

Thanks for the additional links, guys.

Erl, I agree with your statement that the blog post about the D3 is a really good read. I personally think the same way as the author does, that's why I'm not griping about AF and FPS, though I understand people who gripe because they need them for their type of photography/work. And yes, I still find myself convincing myself that I still don't need the D300 (which I really want more than the D3 - too much camera for me). It helps that I don't have the funds to actually buy the D300 anyway!

Matjazz, thanks for the D300 link. I'd be happy if that sensor trickled down to the K10D upgrade. It'll really make me consider upgrading. While I'm happy from the improvement I got from my old 300D's ISO 1600 to the K10D's 1600, it still could be better. And having a very usable ISO 3200 and usable (for basic prints) ISO 6400 would be a big boon for me. I take a lot of pictures in low-light, and would also want a quick set-up, without a need to use a tripod or be able to use faster shutter speeds.
