DPReview: Nikon P7000 a "profoundly unlikeable camera"

Wow... I don't think I've heard such strong language directed at a reviewed camera!

Being British, I can say that "profoundly unlikeable" is one way of saying "****ing horrible".

Good for them, saying it as it is once in a while.

geez, that is pretty harsh, especially when one considers the source.

Be careful this is in regard of their Compact P7000 not the D7000

that I can believe, I'd be very surprised if the d7000 gets any thing less than a fan boy rave

to quote it specifically so you can avoid DPREVIEW yourselves

"All three of these cameras fulfill this need, although of the three, we're most impressed by the Canon S95 and Panasonic LX5, which combine excellent image quality with hassle-free ergonomics and genuinely compact bodies. The Nikon Coolpix P7000 turns out great images but is considerably larger and heavier, and- crucially - its poor operational speed (especially in RAW mode) is impossible to overlook. We're sorry to say that this makes it a profoundly unlikeable camera."

I would tend to agree this segment of camera is aimed now at SLR users who want something more compact for walkabout than their big kit. I've eyed up the LX3/5 myself for that reason. the nikon is ridiculously big so is the g12 as far as i am concerned.. the only thing that stopped an LX3 purchase for me earlier this year was the announcement of the X100 now I'm in wait and see mode

I was actually placing my bets on the panasonic being the best, it's hard to ignore the fact that it's lens gives you a one stop advantage over the other compact cameras on the market.
