nikonians is one, but i don't like since it's a $$ site.
nikoncafe is another.
a more neutral site is talkphotography.com.uk

a quick snap of orion's belt w/ the D7k + 16-85 on a tripod.
manual focus using live view and magnifying the image helps a bundle!

again, the low dark noise is nice for astrophotos. no, these are not hot pixels!

image of an image of an image ....

tested tethering on the D7k.
took a live view image of the tethering live view display, which was showing the live view display....

reminds me of the disco era infinity mirror...

although still in 2.9 beta 2, at $10, the ControlMyNikon software is not free, but extremely reasonable. it's also feature filled.
edit: as of today 2/21/2011, v2.9 final has been released

has live view, image browser, manual focus using keyboard or mouse (live view), atbp...

main screen and live view

D7k and the 35mm f1.8

i haven't used a "fast" lens since my ricoh xr100s days...

the 35mm f1.8 looks very, very good considering its <$200 price.

The 16-85 aint to shabby either

ISO3200 16mm f6.3 1/60 Strobe flash - Jpeg as is from camera (it was sharpened for viewing on a 24" monitor, so looks a bit jaggy a bit here) - just resized

Also resizing down from 16mb file is quite a learning curve
