A Nikon beauty lens?

I love Fashion. But more than Fashion I love beauty. Unfortunately beauty lenses are expensive and heavy and not always weather sealed (I shoot outdoors 95% of the time.)

My birthday is coming up and while my mother is buying me a Pentax 50mm I want a lens for my Nikon D3 as well. A beauty lens. I have limited means so when I get stuff its for long term use, so I would not want a lens and have to 'upgrade' later on. On the other hand my father won't spend more than 500 euros on my gift and I will likely pay the other half (not sure I can afford to pay 500 though.) So yes, my budget is limited indeed. What are my options since I am shooting full frame and soon entering the professional world?

For the D3, the 85mm f1.8D is the way to go. It is under 500 Euros.

Yes I have it, it is great indeed! But it's not weather sealed!

You're using the wrong brand then, as there aren't any true "weather sealed" Nikon lenses, or any they claim to be. They have dust and weather gaskets, but I wouldn't expose them to the harsh elements.

You're being a sally, then. Even the AF-D lenses have been in pouring rain with no issues. The newer G series lenses with Nano-coat is even better sealed.

Using them in the rain and being weather sealed are two different things. I've used $12 plastic cameras in the pouring rain that are not weather sealed nor claim to be and they worked fine. This person is specifically looking for a lens touted as being weather sealed. There aren't any that Nikon tags as such.

What's the difference?

Using something in the rain and it working afterward does not mean it's weather sealed. It means you lucked out. Have you seen how lenses mount on Nikon bodies? The metal lens mount ring area should not be getting wet, regardless if the camera can still function. Lenses do not fit flush and can easily trap water. A camera/lens touted as weather sealed would have gaskets preventing water from being trapped in areas like that.

Oh, and Nikon lenses do have gaskets. Perhaps you just weren't looking at the right line of lenses.

Please provide a link showing an official Nikon write up describing their lenses or bodies as weather sealed.

Nikon lense are not weather resistant, they just prevent Dust to go into the body.

All they say is that ""Rugged construction with professional-grade dust and moisture resistance."

it's dust proof, not water / splash proof.

Nikon lense are not weather resistant, they just suggest you something that can make you think it is.

Very different

but, you know, it's not a shame of not having any WR lense, i guess, as long as you don't shoot under HEAVY rain, any lenses will be ok.

Oh, for ****'s sake. Do you want it to say it, or you want it to perform? I know Pentax has both, but big deal.

Here's some shots a friend does. Every week:

Here's the result. Every week:

Cleans with soap and water.

OMG How will I ever.......oh, it's rain, not submerging a camera.

But whatever. You have it in writing that it's "weather resistant".

DP Review on Nikon G Lens:

Discreet and Durable
The lens boasts a dedicated Silent Wave Motor for smooth and discrete autofocus operation, and is built to last with extensive use of magnesium in its construction, and weather and dust sealing, including around the mount. The AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED comes complete with dedicated secure fitting hood HB-51, and soft pouch.
