If Canon ISN'T considering a MILC, they deserve to go under. EVERY major player (and every wannabee) is doubtlessly 'considering' MILCs, doubtless has several prototypes already. Production is probably many months away.
One consideration, brought to the fore by Ricoh's move, would be: What is the model to use, NEX or GXR? That is, fixed sensor or modular? Other considerations: How much existing low-cost compact / P&S technology can be exploited for a larger-format MILC? Have a VF or just LCD screen? Etc.
The future direction of cameras is being fought-out here. Exciting times, eh?
