Don't see much in this thread of the Fuji x10....a superb small camera with features not found on most other small cameras, including an optical viewfinder. Small enough for your jacket pocket. I carry mine everywhere. The IQ is superb and the abilities are well beyond most P7S cameras. The range is perfect for most use....28-112mm. Besides all that, it is gorgeous!
Look it over!
Regards!

Yeah, I've been staring at it all morning

While it is a great camera, and the price is extra-ordinary... I'm thinking for my needs I'd rather get a much cheaper p&s and save for a NEX 5n or something for the 'good' small camera.

But this offer sure is tempting - and the samples on the previous page are outstanding.

I almost bought one but wanted a shirt pocket camera. After re-reading the OPs pick, i found a Samsung Tl350 refurb and went for that

The holiday deals keep coming and my pocket book is hurting I picked one up for that price even though I'm coveting the Fuji X10. Considering the LX5 price has been hovering at $369 for the longest time, I knew I couldn't let this temporary price drop pass by.

The Samsung TL350 does a fantastic job. these were shot at iso1600, no flash and some noise luminance adjustment in ACR

I recently got a Canon Elph 500HS that has a touchscreen, 24-105 equivalent zoom, f2 at the wide end, P/A/S/Scenes, and 1080p movies (with zoom).

I was drawn to it for the 24/f2, and small size, though I find the touchscreen sort of nice and it really reduces the button-clutter.

I'm noticing a trend here....seems most all of these small cameras have very decent IQ. That sure makes for easier choices...or more difficult, depending on how you view it.

To replace my broken G9, I picked up a Canon 300HS last week but returned it after finding a local deal for the Canon S95 + extra battery (not as cheap as the US, of course but a good deal for north of the border).

Like the 3" screen, controls are somewhat logical although it's far smaller a camera than what I've been used to for P&S. I personally would have gone with something more technical but it's a "house" camera so needed something portable (in a small purse) and easy enough to use but with enough bells that I wouldn't get bored with it.

Hopefully will populate my Smugmug with pics at some point.

Having let the LX5 deal go by, I'm executing my plan: ordered a red DMC-FH2 for my wife, and am saving my money for one of those NEXes or similar. Might even go NEC over a fancy Pentax SLR.

The NEX is unfortunately expensive. While it has its lacking in absence of hot shoe and expensive EVF, it does very well for me for travelling and it is almost pocket-able. And there is a night and day difference in carrying the NEX or a p&s camera in a bag. While the NEX is not as small as a p&s, it is still lightweight and compact in comparison to a Pentax dSLR.

I pick the NEX for its bigger sensor and good features in manual focusing. And it has large assortment of adapters to non E mount. The catch is additional bulk with most SLR adapters. Some adapters are much smaller as in Leica M, M39, Contax and rangefinder type of cameras, and the cutest is in Pentax Auto 110.

Cheers,
Hin
