Fuji X100 gets a little brother.

Fujifilm X50 Coming Soon: Sleekness of the X100 for Half the Price

Reading through, confusing as if will be called an X50 or an X10. The smaller sensor is a major turnoff...much like the Q.

Just to be clear - that's not a photo of the new one, it's just a shrunken X100...

I figured that as much. My headline was more figurative than literal. Although with that smell sensor, I should have said "the X100 get s a little sister."

there is also a strong rumour of a Fuji MILC, which hopefully will be the big brother, an x100 with interchangeable lenses

Curious about the sensor performance. It is like twice the size of Q. So could be very good performance when compared to other compacts.

2/3" sensor? $600? Fixed prime lens? RAW ability? I'm cautiously interested!

The X100 is a great camera. Fuji knows what they are doing.

It is interesting but AFAIK it will be a Zoom not a prime from what i saw on other sites

The Fujifilm X10 is expected to have retro design and fast zoom lens:

2/3″ sensor (smaller than Micro Four Thirds but bigger than the Canon G12)
4x manual zoom lens with fast f/2.0 aperture
Price: $599.00
In some markets this model may be called X50

Thanks for that. Not too wild about a zoom compact - I've never seen a zoom compact that had shutter lag I could live with and I just don't need a zoom! (and I can't see them cramming the X100 viewfinder into something with a zoom lens?).

But it's fun having all of these distractions I mean options around these days. I'm glad that Fuji's continuing to be a factor, I've bought three of their p&s cameras as gifts for others in the past to the satisfaction of those parties.

And I can wait. I've shot 20+ rolls of film with my Minolta manual focus gear in the past three weeks and continue to enjoy the experience and the results.

P.S. There seems to be another X10/X50 update on photorumors.com.

The new Fujifilm system camera with interchangeable lenses (based on the X100) will probably be released later in the year or in early 2012.

There are now a couple of different photos floating around. Looks nice.

Looks, dare I say, in specs and appearance, what Pentax should have made instead of the Q.

Not a chance in hell that they're pics of the real thing...

One of them has found its way into a catalog so I'm not sure it can be entirely dismissed. I've (just now) noticed that there was mention of the X50 with the specs we're now seeing (in echolalia, anyway) dating back to Aug 6.

Looks like this will be one of three cameras to be announced soonby Fujifilm (this might jibe with a bit of speculation now that the X10 and X50 might be separate cameras). The author of that last page says, "Just a reminder that Fujifilm is part of the Micro Four Thirds System Standard Group."
