NX200 is out

The new Samsung NX200 has been released. Brand-new 20mp APS sensor (about time) and a new body-form.

Not sure what this is about though - do Samsung have an official PK-NX adapter (I know there were Samsung braded K-mount lenses from the GX days...)?
• Adaptor for Pentax K-mount lenses

Gotta say I like the look, I think it'd be a nice camera to use

Samsung does have an official PK->NX adapter, but it will only help you manually handle aperture, and obviously won't enable autofocus...

The way I understood it, it's quite simple: the adapter has a PK aperture coupler linked to an aperture ring (with full-stops clicks) on the adapter.

So, with DA lenses (those without the aperture ring), you can set a given aperture by using the adapter's aperture ring (but you're limited to full-stops).
With PK-A lenses with an aperture ring, you can use either rings.
With PK-M lenses, you have to set your wanted aperture on the lens' ring, and use the adapter's ring to switch between wide-open and stepped-down (you can use this trick with PK-A lenses, as it eases focusing a lot). This is not unlike the Jupiter-9 dual aperture rings...

3rd-party adapter does not provide this feature, AFAIK...

Looks like they are on a milder version of the hallucinogenics the Pentax Q team is on.

At that price all they'll be doing is alienating their base followed by frantic back-pedaling.

Proof will be in the IQ pudding though...

I'm confused...what's wrong with the price? $899 (including kit lens) seems reasonble for a high quality mirrorless camera. Much cheaper than the Nex7, but reasonably so since it doesn't have an integrated viewfinder.

It doesn't have a viewfinder and the screen is fixed: it is less usable than the Sony NEX-5N, which is $200 cheaper.

But NX200 has supposedly better sensor and much better native optics. Although the NEX is the system for using alien lenses, especially with peaking.

The Samsung sensor has not been tested yet, and the DPreview samples at 3200 are very noisy. On the other hand, the NEX-5N has improved performance on the already very good Sony 16mp sensor, acording to the Imaging Resource's comparaison here: Sony Alpha NEX-5N Compact System Camera - Hands-On Preview

As for the lenses, I'll concede I envy the Samsung 30/2, but I have not seen many of their other lenses tested. IIRC, their 20mm needs strong software correction, à la Panasonic/Olympus, which is a negative for me.

The Nex-5N looks better than the Pentax K-5 @ 25600 iso IMHO.

well,it depends where you are looking. for me they seem equal in general. I think the difference would be in the DR. but could be the same since the K-5 is practically using a Sony sensor.

I'm a bit puzzled by the complaints on the price...

Bout the same as the EP3, cheaper than the GH2 and significantly cheaper than the NEX7... Sure the 5N might have better pure IQ, but personally I find the Samsung much more interesting from a user point of view
