I own a sony alpha a230 dslr, and every once and a while it would go "camera error". I got fed up with sony's "help" (which pretty much told me to do the same thing they told me LAST time.) I went and bought me a Canon ^_~

Anyway, what would happen for the camera error to appear, is that I would take a picture, and the lens/body would make some noise, and the picture goes black with the word "camera error" on the screen. I would have to turn it off and turn it back on just to do it again. and after then I would end up missing great shots because of the lousy error.

My question(s) is: Has anyone had this type of problem before (in either sony or any other brand)? If so, what did you do to fix it (if it is fixable)

Slightly on topic, I've been tossing up either getting a Nikon D7000, or waiting for one of the new Alpha a77, or a65 (probably leaning towards the a77). but for the life of me, I can't find any communities such as these fine Pentax forums that adequately give me a snapshot into how the cameras perform on a real-world level.

That, and the lenses are bloody expensive.

So all in all, probably will be giving it a miss sadly...

For Sony Alpha, it's either Dyxum (with the lens database) and photoclubalpha.
