I thought I'd see some more pics from you in the thread about "post your Fuji X100/X10 photos" but I am sure you will.

I am still very much undecided as to what to do:
K-01: I can use my K-mount lenses.
Fuji: it has a viewfinder!

Mind you, it's not a rush thing and I sure can live with "just" my K5 for the moment but I can see the Spring slowly making its way here and I'll be out hiking the trails ... a "compact" back up for other-than-telephoto pics sure will come in handy!

Chhers for now!

yes, there are some on that thread from me...................a few with butterflies and some at a antique store from a few weeks ago......I don't know how to link to a specific photo in a long thread like that....

Good Lord! This thread is still going? Well, then, I'll tell you what I recommend at this point. MFT. Here's the kit, full of excellence.

Olympus E-PL2
Olympus VF-2 viewfinder
Panasonic Leica G 14mm f/2.5 ASPH
Panasonic Lumix G Vario 20mm f/1.7 ASPH
Olympus M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.8
K-mount to MFT adapter

Inclusive of battery and SD card the entire kit weighs under 700g and costs under 1000 clams*. Unbeatable value. Use the EVF when you want to. Pop it off for easy storage. Use all your Pentax lenses too.

* clams are pounds sterling, but likely similar in sawbucks

Well, yes this thread is still going because the OP hasn't yet made a decision !!

Good recommendation you have here; interesting. I read in a few places that people like the E-PL2 better than the E-PL3 ??

Also good: useage of the K-mount lenses via an adapter.

Thanks.

Despite the similarities in model number, they are significantly different. The E-PL2 has a nice grip and a built-in flash. The E-PL3 is smaller, with a more contemporary (e.g. generic) styling, has an articulated screen, a clip-on flash, faster burst mode, AF assist lamp, and 1080HD video. They have a similar complement of controls though in different places.

jpzk... the f*300mm is pretty much glued to my K5. When the K5 had to go in for replacement i picked up the EPL2 with 14-42mm, EVF, 40-150mm and then bought the XZ1 (cause the EVF works on it too). I can easily pants pocket the XZ1 or put the EPL2 w/14-42 in a coat pocket and carry the K5 w/f*300. Either combo covers 90% of my shooting needs and image quality is very good to excellent from all 3. Prices have dropped for the XZ1 and EPL2 making them bargains. I've managed to get BIFs with both Olys.

For me it's the point and shoot, Sony HX5V. Great little camera and very versatile.

ISO 3200 - P&S...not too shabby.

I'm still loving my little Toy Camera the X10! All metal and very solid, full dials and controls just like "real" cameras and it can....

Shoot lovely girls ( a must!)
[IMG] [/IMG]

Do yard work like a landscaper....
[IMG] [/IMG]

And most of all....do hand held night shots like a wizard with the Pro Low Light setting
[IMG] [/IMG]

No lenses to drool over......you have 28-112 mm of very fine real glass from Fuji and a very fast 2.0-2.8 so you seldom miss a shot in any light. No flash to add on, it has its own which is very effective. The only drawback I have found.....Squirrels hate it!

Regards!

Good shots as usual, Rupert!
I haven't made any final decision yet ... I'd better do that soon with the Summer coming soon.

If 'small', 'pocketable' and 'good IQ' are the priorities, I'd definitely recommend the Olympus EPL3 and the Lumix 14/f2.5. Or if you prefer the length and don't mind something a tad larger, the Lumix 20/f1.7. Add the Olympus 45/f1.8 if you don't mind carrying a (very) small bag.

Steller kit and about as small as you can get with a 'real' sensor and 'real' lens It won't have quite the IQ of your K-5, but, well, you have a K-5 so I guess that isn't a huge issue...
+1.

Olympus Ups Its Game

Be warned. You may find your K-5 less... er... um... carried.

woof!

I don't get it -- that article is from almost a year ago! Olympus is on to the next generation now.
