So a few more details on the setup if you would. I assume you used 2 speedlights here, the main to the right and a fill flash to the left. Did you trigger with the built-in camera flash (k10) or use a radio trigger? Is there anything you would do differently if you were to do it again?
They are all excellent shots, but on the third one - I think it needs a bit more exposure on the fill side.
Is it difficult to carry that much equipment into the field???
I've only done flash work with my Pentax dslr, but last weekend ordered one of these add-on hotshoes that will sit on top of my 5n. I have the Cactus radio triggers and a coupla manual flashes, so i think that will work. For $16, its worth a try :-)
Hi Phil - thanks! Those shots were all ambient light, actually. All flash shots were on the K10d. I wanted to put my flashes to use and learn about lighting, so i placed an ad for models to help me with my strobist set up. On my second shoot, we were doing paint throwing and trying to create 'fire effects' with orange gels etc (and a bit of real fire!) It's great fun, just working on the basis of trying to gain experience and expand my portfolio, and help models with theirs. Some of the results so far are on my flickr stream (
link to set here), and I've added some notes re the lighting set ups. I've been using those cheap Ebay radio triggers, and Minolta AF4000 flashes (usually) with shoot through umbrellas. Have never shot in a studio so have no idea whether this is easier or harder. but I actually enjoy the challenge of balancing flash with ambient light.
