Daniel, these pictures are really nice (I like the first one the most), but your gear is even more impressive ;-)

I decided on FD lenses with my Lens Turbo, still being at the very beginning, though. So my GAS is developing well, thank you very much ;-)

Sadly, no new pictures today but my 100/2.8 S.S.C is coming, so I'll be testing it very soon...

Do you still have the 24/1.4 and the 200 macro?

If only I had the money... ;-)
As a matter of facts, I'm looking for a 85/1.2 L in a reasonable price.

Yes, I haven't yet sold any FD lenses and I am reluctant to - they are great lenses and great value for money. The macro may not be as sharp as some of the others but it has lovely rendering. I really like it.

The 135/2 is called the poor man's 85/1.2. I think that relationship exists, even today, in the modern EOS lenses. I got one for $225. I think I saw one go for $250. The 85L is going for crazy amounts right now. I am so tempted to sell it and just get a Samyang 85, but I do love it.

Thanks for the hint, I love the 135 mm focal lenght :-)
I do have a 135 mm f/2.5 S.C lens and it's not bad at all. The problem with overseas lenses more expensive than ~$180 is that the customs will charge me another ~30% of the price (customs tax and VAT) if they are not declared as a gift or with a lower value... And in Europe these lenses are usually more expensive and harder to find :-(

I have a lot of respect for anyone that will take flash outside of a studio for shooting - so congratulations on the dynamic shooting!!!

So a few more details on the setup if you would. I assume you used 2 speedlights here, the main to the right and a fill flash to the left. Did you trigger with the built-in camera flash (k10) or use a radio trigger? Is there anything you would do differently if you were to do it again?

They are all excellent shots, but on the third one - I think it needs a bit more exposure on the fill side.

Is it difficult to carry that much equipment into the field???

I've only done flash work with my Pentax dslr, but last weekend ordered one of these add-on hotshoes that will sit on top of my 5n. I have the Cactus radio triggers and a coupla manual flashes, so i think that will work. For $16, its worth a try :-)
Hi Phil - thanks! Those shots were all ambient light, actually. All flash shots were on the K10d. I wanted to put my flashes to use and learn about lighting, so i placed an ad for models to help me with my strobist set up. On my second shoot, we were doing paint throwing and trying to create 'fire effects' with orange gels etc (and a bit of real fire!) It's great fun, just working on the basis of trying to gain experience and expand my portfolio, and help models with theirs. Some of the results so far are on my flickr stream (link to set here), and I've added some notes re the lighting set ups. I've been using those cheap Ebay radio triggers, and Minolta AF4000 flashes (usually) with shoot through umbrellas. Have never shot in a studio so have no idea whether this is easier or harder. but I actually enjoy the challenge of balancing flash with ambient light.

And an excellent pano again :-)

I'm still testing the Lens Turbo (let me know when you're bored to death...), this time with the Canon FL 58 mm f/1.2 lens.

(there's more on my blog, of course)

I love these last two. I'm sure it's level, but the second shot looks just a bit off level to me. Maybe I should put a level on my monitor, but I don't see it in the 3rd image.

I am experimenting with a flash bracket and HSS. It's a work in progress. I'll be sure to look through your notes. I also plan on using my speedlight and cactus5 setup, but I am trying for a minimalist lighting setup at first.
