Nice shots, guys.

Joel, your first one is very nice. Hps3, cute kid, I mostly shoot my kids as well. They are the focus of my photography, nice shots.

Nice pics on this and previous page (esp kenafein and hinman). A couple of portraits taken with Lux 35 and Cron 90 respectively:

@Joel and @HP3 -- very lovely pictures.

Me too. Very lovely portrait. Can we know more about your cron 90? Is that contax 90? I recall Brent has great pictures with the Contax g 90. I actually look at the Contax G 90 and it is not that far off from ~$300. If pictures are those like Brent's pictures with the kids, the lens is a gem.

I am looking for a f/2.8 lens with 24mm and 35mm to work with my coming Lens Turbo in K mount. On the 24mm, I currently stop my search after getting Sigma Super-Wide II 24mm f/2.8 with A and MF. It is quite a good lens for 24mm. I have an okay copy of Tamron 24mm f/2.5 (01B) and I think the Sigma may have beaten it but I have to use it more to qualify my initial impression.

Some test shots with K-7 and last one is with NEX 5N

K-7

k-7 @f/3.5

k-7 @f/3.2

k-7 lens flare

please excuse the poor subject, the lens has good 1:5, 1:4 close up

nex 5N, likely f/2.8

I am constantly tempted with SEL 35mm f/1.8 followed by Voiglander 35mm f/1.4. Any experience to choose one over the other. With my soon to come LT, I am also looking for a cheaper and slower alternative with 35mm or 50mm mounted on LT, and I have the SuperTakumer 35mm f/3.5 coming as a try out with LT.

Cheers,
Hin

Hin, great shots from the K7. Emac's lens in question is a Leica Cron 90. The Contax G is no slouch though. I really like the Voigtlander 35/1.4, but Voigtlander labels it as having "Classic Rendering". The lens is not very sharp. It makes beautiful images though, especially with black and whites. I'm sure you could do wonders with either lens, but the SEL is technically better. I have decided to stick with my SIgma 30mm/2.8(Rather, my bank account decided). The Sigma 24 is a really excellent lens too, and I love the close focus ability. I have this lens in Alpha mount, and I use it on the NEX.

Emacs, I also love the first shot. The tones are beautiful.

Hinman, great shots there. I know someone using a Voigt 35 on a nex 5n and its a nice lens. Its kind of like the 43 limited(my favorite lens), its sharp enough at 1.4 but has its own rendering. I would probably opt for the SEL35 just because its got autofocus and to me 1.4-1.8 isn't that big of a difference to me.

I did just buy a DA15 here today. I have been looking for one because I just love the wide angle and those starbursts. Any one have experience with the DA15?

This is the lens to use to shoot straight into the sun and not worry too much about flare and other issues. I have this on my K-x in traveling in New Zealand -- it is a charming lens to bring in traveling.

K-x and DA 15 @f/8.0

K-x @ f/16

f/11, I should have watched over exposure on left

I don't use it in my NEX though as I find the K to NEX adapter destroy the beauty of the DA lens though my adapter allows 5 steps aperture to work with the DA lens. I plan to use my 10-17 on NEX and get a workout but with the 15, I prefer to use it on my K-5/K-7. On NEX, I much prefer the SEL 16mm alone and with ECU wide angle converter to get 12mm f/2.8.

Cheers,
Hin

Much thanks for the valuable inputs. Ouch, I can't afford the leica. Those are precious lens that I can only admire on the sidelines. The voiglander has a classical unique look on the color and it is more logical to get the SEL 35 but the manual focus is a beauty in NEX to work with the leica M lenses in a small and compact form factor.

Cheers,
Hin

Thanks Hin! I really like the bursts on those 15 shots. My main use for a wide lens is my annual Disney trip. I've used a Rokinon FE and Tokina 11-16 on my Nex before at WDW. I love shooting into the sun and usually use the fisheye.

You really need to sell that Rokinon. I keep pining for it.

Smaller setup with M42 lenses

I want to share with you a way that I find more pleasing in adapting M42 lenses on NEX. Here is a picture of two adapters

Left: regular M42 to NEX
Right: Konica AR to NEX + M42 to Konicar AR adapter

The two may end up to be about the same height but I find the Konica AR setup to be much handy in NEX and the setup match well for my focusing style with small m42 lenses as in takumar and Russian pancake.

In preparation with Lens Turbo, I just got my SuperTak 35mm f/3.5 and here is how it looks

And a similar setup with Russian Industar 50-2 50mm f/3.5, an M42 pancake

The M42 to Konica AR adapter can be found in ebay but I just take a look in ebay it is priced crazily in the $80. I paid about $30.00 and it turns M42 lenses for Konica AR mount allowing me to use the smaller Konica AR to NEX adapter.

Cheers,
Hin
