The only problem with using the X10 to shoot Chinese food, Rupert, is that 30 minutes later you just want to take a picture again.

What struck me about the first one are those stairways that kind of unify or lift the image if the bottom building is cut off--as it is on my monitor looking at it. I can't get it all at once. The wires are really dense--more intense than the US, definitely--we don't usually see that in urban environments. The second photograph is amazing. You really capture the feeling behind these places, I love seeing them and learning about the history and cultural.

That pie looks mighty tasty, Rupert. And after I show you what I have to do to get a treat, you'll box that up and send it to me if you have any charity in you.

Walk down this alley

On the left side is a wall with gum that people stick all over the place. And if you find a fresh one, it still has a lot of flavor left I've found.

My gripe with the auto focus speed of the new camera is not so much about what it can or can't do but more about the principle and getting something for your money.

The camera is expensive and it depends on auto focus. For that price, I'd expect ALL its systems to be top-notch. Here they didn't listen to the customer at all even if it's "not that kind of camera" or not. I mean, if a camera had a button on it for slow or fast auto focus, who would put it on the slower setting, ever? The camera certainly fits the "street photography" class of shooting and in that class, slow auto focus is not a good trait.
Bang on. If a camera cannot focus in time to get the shot, who cares how good the sensor is. $1200 is too much for a camera crippled with poor AF, never mind $2300! The Nikon V1 has been a revelation in this area. And while the sensor is relatively small (twice the size of the sensor in the X-10) the IQ is on par with most m4/3 cameras.

Yes, fast AF is a great thing. If you are a landscape shooter in an earthquake zone where the land is constantly moving, or a studio shooter without strobes , then fast AF is a must.
My landscapes tend to be on the slow side...and my studio shooting is fully strobe equipped, so the X-Pro with resolution and color said to beat the current FF models, and do it in a smaller lighter body trumps lightning fast AF every time.

The body is not $2300, it's $1700...not much more than my K5, which would be far over $2300 with a 31 Ltd mounted on it. Price is all relative to what you have to spend, not necessarily what you want to achieve.

I like what I have seen from the V1 but as soon as you mount a lens to match my X10 112 mm range, the V1 is no more a small camera that a D800...while my X10 still fits in my jacket pocket nicely. IQ? Love all I have seen from the X10, it is really quite amazing what that EXR sensor can do.....and colors! What gorgeous colors, no one does colors better than Fuji IMHO!

There are lots of cameras for lots of purposes, the X-Pro has a market, just like the X100 and X10. I never heard Fuji say it was for wildlife or sports....did you?
Regards!

Keep in mind...it was a low light shot with the Digital Zoom on at 228mm 1/20 F2.8 ISO 800....I got a shot, which is all I asked for. Possums never win beauty contests anyhow.....

Violini, it is a rare thing here to get snow, but it does happen every so often. Usually in February. It has been a very warm winter, mostly in the 70-80F range, but we got caught this weekend with a little cold snap.......ends tomorrow and we head back to the 70's!

I look forward to seeing your shots from Asia, the X10 is the perfect travel camera, light but excellent! If you think of it, try to get some food shots, in particular those street food shops and street vendors. I love to see the Asian food.....and love to eat it too! Always very colorful, and tasty too!

Best Regards!
