Yes, fast AF is a great thing. If you are a landscape shooter in an earthquake zone where the land is constantly moving, or a studio shooter without strobes , then fast AF is a must.
My landscapes tend to be on the slow side...and my studio shooting is fully strobe equipped, so the X-Pro with resolution and color said to beat the current FF models, and do it in a smaller lighter body trumps lightning fast AF every time.
The body is not $2300, it's $1700...not much more than my K5, which would be far over $2300 with a 31 Ltd mounted on it. Price is all relative to what you have to spend, not necessarily what you want to achieve.
I like what I have seen from the V1 but as soon as you mount a lens to match my X10 112 mm range, the V1 is no more a small camera that a D800...while my X10 still fits in my jacket pocket nicely. IQ? Love all I have seen from the X10, it is really quite amazing what that EXR sensor can do.....and colors! What gorgeous colors, no one does colors better than Fuji IMHO!
There are lots of cameras for lots of purposes, the X-Pro has a market, just like the X100 and X10. I never heard Fuji say it was for wildlife or sports....did you?
