Welcome. I like that leather camera case. Look forward to more of your posts.
Thanks! It's a Zhou leather case that's really nice, but I have to remove it to access the SD card slot, which I do quite often. May have to go with the Gariz case if this bugs me in the long run

What the heck is up with those cameras on a brick wall?
It's part of the decor at the pub. There was this section what was photography themed, and they had that wall with the old cameras (I'm assuming they light up through the lens), softboxes lighting parts of the upstairs bar (photo below), studio lights and umbrellas hanging off the ceiling, as well as old telephoto lenses as lamps.

I notice a couple of kind comments and I certainly do appreciate them, undeserved though they may be.

One thing I noticed when posting on Flickr is that when doing Strobist-style pictures the pictures of the setup usually get more hits than the photos themselves, so I try to grab a setup shot whenever I can. All the more so now that I have the Gorillapod as part of the gear, since it is fun trying to see just where you can mount the thing.

Both
Fujifilm X10

I have to make sure to take along plenty of spare batteries for the flash, because even when firing at 1/8 power (lowest setting) I end up using a lot of juice just aiming the flash in situations like the setup for this shot. The Gorillapod was atop a rafter and I had to keep fiddling with the direction of the flash with both arms straight up over my head, firing the test button with one finger, using the rest of that hand to try to hold the flash steady, and trying to tighten the ball head with my right hand without letting the flash move. It got a bit tiring.

Damn it, less than two weeks with the X100 and I get massive overexposure at smaller apertures.

Yep, I'm right there with ya trying to get it fixed. I bought it second hand and have a few hoops to jump through which is a pain. Going on a trip later this week and was hoping it would be good to go but it's looking unlikely. Good luck with the repair and hope you get it back soon.

It is 11 days old so not going to send it in; taking it back to the store and swapping it out or just returning it.

That might work but the new one could develop the same problem. It took several months before it happen to mine.

And here I was hoping getting one recently manufactured would mean they had it fixed.

ISO 800, f/5.6, 1/250:

ISO 800, f/11, 1/60 (should be identical):

Another test is that all f2 exposures should be good. You should also get overexposed at f5.6 too as it gets worse. Check the serial number of the replacement and compare it to yours. If they have more than one in stock, ask for the newest made one.

Yeah, the f/2 stuff all looks fine. I'll call Fuji in the morning and see what the turnaround is, and if it is more than a few days I'll swap it out otherwise have them replace the lens assembly. Rumor has it the new assemblies do not have the problem.

They only had mine a couple of days. I paid to ship it there and they paid for the overnight, next day delivery back. So if you want it back in a week, you need to send it there with either one or two day delivery service.

I am not in the US though, so we will see how things are here. Usually even regular mail service is overnight thanks to the short distances.

Here's in an interesting after one month X Pro review, see:

Fujifilm X-Pro1 First findings | Creative and business resources for photographers - ProPhotoNut

Or if you are skip to the conclusion person like me:

"How good is the X-Pro1?
I expect the reports that the X-Pro1 is sharper and delivers more detail than a Canon 5D mk3 or a Canon 1DX are a bit far fetched but the X-Pro1 could easily be equal to either of those cameras from what I’ve seen from the jpegs. RAW processing of 16 bit files will tell the whole truth. I used the X-Pro1 for a corporate job at the BBC in my first week of ownership and I shot in the TV and Radio studios with just 300 lux of light using f/2.8 at ISO 1600 and the Fuji outperformed the Canon 5D MK2 at that ISO. So I ditched the Canon and shot with the Fuji for three days. The final pictures will be printed to A1 so it was important for me to capture the maximum detail. Would I shoot a wedding with it? Yes, once there is RAW file support.

Should you buy a Fujifilm X-Pro1?
Well, if you like your current DSLR then the answer is not yet. Wait for at least one more firmware update and Adobe to provide RAW file support. If you love the DSLR way of shooting then stick with it. The Fuji X-Pro1 needs an open mind and a bit of patience to develop a good shooting style. Comparing shooting a DSLR with the Fujifilm X-Pro1 is like comparing Alpine skiing with snowboarding. Both diciplines are spectacular when done well but being an expert of one does not make you an expert of the other. There’s lots for me still to learn about using the Fuji X-Pro1 before I can realise the true potential of this camera.

Please feel free to share your experiences with this camera if like me you are an early adopter."

You guys are still posting some fine shots....and I suppose it is all due to the fine cuisine I have been providing? Well, I'm sorry but I am all out, and besides, I haven't even received a single tip for my efforts!

You guys can make your own meal from scratch....I'll supply you with the meat.

X10 + Pentax 360 Flash......works pretty well on the X10. If I had some practice, it would work much better, no doubt!

Happy eating!
