Nice shot, Rupert, and nice story. I was gonna tell you a secret, but I hear you can't keep your mouth shut. :-)

I like the photo and story about your friend Rupert. You are doing him good.

Here's something to remind you why you do not want to live near me, as lovely as it can be...

Nice Jac! I'm not a whiskey drinker, but if I was that would be a great choice!

Here it is BF and Mrs Rupert says I can't put anymore beer in the refer until I drink up what I have already bought. Heck at one a week, that may take me another two months? Maybe I can find a single somewhere today....maybe not?

Regards!

Really cool photo! Love the mix of booze and camera porn Gorgeous MF cameras and great light. Haven't had the "Sheep Dip"....any good?

I'll add in a whiskey photo as well. Buffalo Trace is my go to Bourbon. Great flavor, just enough bite...plus the price is right.

The book is One Man's Wilderness. Written by Dick Proenneke who spent 30 years at Twin Lakes in Alaska, building a cabin from scratch with hand tools. Really impressive stuff....guy had some serious skills. The writing is excellent and the photos are great too. There is also a film that he shot called Alone in the Wilderness which is a good watch too. Highly recommend both.

Anyway it's a fun read anytime I am sitting around a cabin relaxing and sipping on some whiskey

Looks like a very interesting read. I think I saw something on OPB about him.

Jac -Yes indeed! Isn't the X10 a handy camera with great results! Send me a bottle of that and I'll drink to it!

Abie, nice shot...not a whiskey drinker, but I'd try a small shot of that. Interesting about the wilderness cabin. I am pretty skilled at building (well, I used to be before I started breaking body parts!) My Grandad was a builder and I grew up working with him in the trade...back when you did it all, from digging the foundation to nailing down the last shingle. Some years ago when I had trouble falling off to sleep, I started construction of a wilderness cabin in my mind. I still work on it occasionally....it started off as a small one man cabin with few conveniences, but the damn thing has grown to 4 bedrooms and a huge den with a fireplace the size of the original cabin......I guess that is human nature?

For 3 1/2 months I pretended my little office was a cabin and I was locked in by the weather instead of a broken foot. In the first few days I started to develop Cabin Fever.....and it got worse with every passing day. I've pretty much decided that I am selling that cabin in my mind and leaving it for someone else to enjoy.....I want to be out and about as much as possible!

I've cleaned it up now, but it did get pretty cluttered and junky in there during those months of captivity...

Regards!....Sorry I had no BF shot, but I will try harder to drink up the stuff I already have so I can buy something new for next week.....maybe.

This guy could use a "Snapshot" about now.....he showed up and said Otis hired him to clear brush from the Woods of Otis. I'm guessing he told him to bring the bill to me?

X20

Very nice photograph. But then I love windows, grids, architecture, reflections, layers, B&W, composition--all the things that are so well handled here. Must be the X-100...
