Very nice photograph. But then I love windows, grids, architecture, reflections, layers, B&W, composition--all the things that are so well handled here. Must be the X-100...
Thanks David.
Funnily, I had accidentally bumped the shutter dial to 4000 and didn't realize until sometime later, so I shot this at 1/4000 and f/8 without knowing and of course the auto ISO was pushed to the limit of 3200.
Luckily, the X100 makes superb B&W images at 3200

Looks like a very interesting read. I think I saw something on OPB about him.
Yeah, every so often they play his film on OPB....usually during a fundraising drive.

I am pretty skilled at building (well, I used to be before I started breaking body parts!) My Grandad was a builder and I grew up working with him in the trade...back when you did it all, from digging the foundation to nailing down the last shingle. Some years ago when I had trouble falling off to sleep, I started construction of a wilderness cabin in my mind. I still work on it occasionally....it started off as a small one man cabin with few conveniences, but the damn thing has grown to 4 bedrooms and a huge den with a fireplace the size of the original cabin......I guess that is human nature?
Then you would enjoy this book/film for sure. A cabin built with hand tools....he even carved his own bowls, spoons and door hinges....really impressive. Plus, he photography and film work is great. You strike me as a fella with a good imagination....I bet it's a hell of a cabin!

Yeah, maybe it does get out of hand every so often.....that's what Otis says when I tell him I can talk with raccoons.

Seriously, wilderness living might not be such a great idea when you get older....or for most when young and strong. We have become pretty weak in our lifestyles. Young people would die without their phones......for me, I couldn't get by without a microwave.

Made it out with the X-Pro 1 and 18mm lens the other night, still got to wait till I get back to the UK to play with the 35mm.... oh and the Jupiter 11 I’ve just bought....

One of the many feral cats in Bahrain..

I can’t remember if I posted any of these from the “air show” (was too wet to fly) These are with the X10 under a brolly!

And one of an interesting building in Bahrain.

Really high grade B/W shots Steve! Love the kitty....looks well fed for a feral cat! Very interesting shot and building.....in a nation with oil galore they need wind power? Why not!

Thanks Rupert, The X-Pro is a pleasure to use, looking forward to trying the 35mm and the Jupiter 11 M39 lens (Damn you Blunty!)

We all thought it was weird, they hardly ever move, I’m not looking forward to going back to the UK with fuel prices of around £1.38 a litre, been paying £0.16 a litre out here.....

The cat is very clever, it lives down American Alley, which is a street with is pretty much wall to wall restaurants and cafes.

Cheers, Steve

I can't wait to get the X-T1 so I can get great shots like you guys! This is bound to be the camera that makes me a Pro????

I'll go with the 18-55 that comes with it, I hear it is a great lens. Maybe next will be the 55-200, since I am mostly a zoom shooter . The 60 Macro might also be a nice addition too. I'm not going to build a large kit.....I have done that with Pentax and find I only use a very few lenses, and most sit idle. A few zooms, a couple of primes and an adapter and I will be all set to become a fantastic shooter!!!!

Regards!

I 1st thought the X-T1 was ugly, but it has grown on me and the addition of the ISO dial is great, I do kind of wish I waited, but I am more then happy with the X-Pro.... atm....

18-55mm is supposed to be a great lens, I’m also looking at the 55-200mm as my primes cover me for most thing, the 10-24mm is call me though.

I had the Sigma 10-20 HSM 3.5 for my K5 but seldom used it, so I sold it last year. Great lens, but I never got the hang of making it work for me in my compositions.
The 60 Macro Fuji looks like it might be good for shooting other than macro too? Maybe some longer portraits? I have used my 43Ltd for portraits and it is excellent, but a little too wide at times.
I see a longer zoom on the lens map....wonder what it will be like?
Regards!
