Is anyone here tempted by the new 150-400/4.5?

The price is crushing, about twice what I would consider paying for the fleetest moment.. How much better can it be at the long end than an Oly 300 f4.0 + 1.4X TC? How much better can it be at the short end than a Pany 50~200mm (or an Oly 40~150mm F2.8)? That kit (Pany 50~200mm, Oly 300mm, Oly 1.4X) would cover almost the entire range of the 150~400 F4.5 - more at the short end - for less $, as far as I can calculate. I doubt enough copies will be sold to pay for the R&D.

I thought the 150-400/4.5 would be $4000-5000, so I was pretty far off. So far I know of one person who intends to buy the new lens.

This is a niche thing. It cannot be massive and publicly available. I inquired about this lens and it seems to me that this is a unique thing. The price is more than affordable, in my opinion. If you don't like it, you can buy something for 12,000 dollars. But not the fact that the pictures will be better. And you can do without an assistant who will carry your bags). Soon there will be reviews with raw files and it will be possible to say something more precisely. Evil tongues claim that the expansion margin is such that the built-in converter does not spoil the picture, moreover, you can install an additional one, the picture will still retain detail and quality. We'll see. Here is a video in English, maybe it will say something more ...

Alternatives:

1) Oly 100~400mm f4.5 = $7499, 1874g

2) Oly 300 f4.0, Oly .4X TC, Pany 50~200mm = $4546 2300g (the 300mm is heavy)

3) Oly 100~400mm (variable aperture model) + Oly 40~150mm f2.8 = $2897 1775g - I will insert that the 40~150mm is uniformly regarded as an outstanding lens even compared to primes.

Cost based on currently listed prices @ B&H. The 100~400mm f4.5 will need to deliver better-than-all IQ to justify it's price.

The devil is in the details. I cannot consider the listed lenses as alternatives. Due to the different design and other capabilities.
As for the prices. I compared with the prices of other manufacturers. With lenses vaguely similar in capabilities.

Anyone has good or bad things to say about the sigma 19/2.8 EX DN?

Made the purchase because right now I only have the Oly 40-150/4-5.6 andfigured I need something normal. Got it for $90 (tax included) with hood and caps from KEH; I reckon it is a fair price for the sigma, hope I am not wrong.

I've seen good reviews of it.

Absolutely! I'm definitely getting me one unless I hear of serious issues. I'm loving my M.Z 300/4 but,,,
