They are not cross-compatible because the electric contacts in the hot shoe are differently spaced and positioned, and may serve different functions in different cameras/systems. Similarly, shoe-mounted strobes are not cross-compatible. You can just put Nikon-branded strobe on a Pentax or MFT and have it work correctly. Similarly, the GODOX shoe-mounted strobes are dedicated to Pentax OR MFT. They will not function on both WITH THIS EXCEPTION. The GODOX AD200 is a non-hot-shoe, monolight-like unit that is not dedicated to any particular camera flash system. With the correct on-shoe control unit, it can be operated by any camera system, BUT YOU WOULD NEED TWO SHOE-MOUNTED CONTROL UNITS, one for Pentax, a second for MFT
If you have a Pentax-dedicated GODOX hot-shoe strobe, mount it off-camera and try to operate it via a GODOX remote control that's dedicated to and mounted on an MFT camera, will it work correctly? That I do not know.
I just ordered the Flashpoint R2 Mark II TTL Transmitter for Pentax Cameras (X2T-P) from Adorama for $29.99 that was posted in the Price Watch Forum. I'm expecting that it operates similarly to the X-PRO(P) so that I can use my Flashpoint/Godox (O) flashes with the X2T-P mounted on my K-3II.
Would like to add that I was able to mount my X-PRO(O) trigger on my K-3II and successfully fire a Flashpoint Mini (O) with the flash in manual mode. I didn't bother to try in P-TTL mode since the hotshoe/flash pins are different, so I don't know what, if anything, would happen.
