The weather was perfect and the bugs are gone this time of year. None of these are stellar, but they do indicate the fun I was having.

These shots are all uncropped.

You know, I hadn't read which lens you used, and my first thought was how nice these images looked, both composition and the optical characteristics. I need to get this lens.

Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm 3.5-5.6 on E-PM1

I am really considering upgrading my M43 body. I need something with a viewfinder!!!

Considering selling some gear that will fetch about $300 total... I'm seeing some Olys E-m10 (first version) going for about $185... Is it worth an extra $100 for a few extra features on a Mark II (E-M10) or any other model?

I will use mostly the Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm 3.5-5.6, Sigma EX DN 19/2.8, my Rokkor 58/1.4 and most importantly my Pentax-110 glass (50mm and 70mm 2.8s mostly) - hence the need for a viewfinder...

Thanks for any feed back.

This is a struggle I have faced also. Your choices in cameras these days are fantastic. The m43 system offers a lot with a rational size. I own m43, apsc, and full frame along with a 1” sensor and even a 1/1.7” sensor. I use them all. The key fact is, I don’t need them all! My angst with m43 is landscape and low light. My beef with full frame is long telephoto shots. Apsc is in the middle doing both well enough. Sigh. Too many choices!

My longest native m43 is the 45-175 Panasonic. I love it for what it is, but the 100-400 and 50-200 with teleconverters both piqued my interest. I own the Olympus EM1 mark-1 and a few Panasonic bodies, I lean towards the Panasonic 100-400 due to the DFD, but the EM1 mk II sure performs well. I’ve never been a fan of the menu system however.
Thanks for the interesting conversation. And I would like to clarify why mikra is not suitable for a landscape. Can you explain please.

It’s fine for landscape, but the dynamic range and my lenses tend to favor other formats. I have some lovely landscape shots I’ve made with m43 but often the images made on my Pentax K-3 (and now KP) are just a bit stronger. The Sony A7Riii is also strong in that respect, although my lens options in Sony aren’t as extensive as my Pentax choices.

Here’s an m43 landscape shot I like: _2130050_DxO by -vanya_42nd-

Ironically I think that was shot with a manually focused Pentax smc da 40 on my Panasonic GX-7. I’ve printed images at 13x19 and the image holds up well.

Essentially there’s nothing wrong with using m43 on Landscapes, This is particularly true of those that aren’t ultrawide. Here’s a truck I shot with the GX1 (my worst landscape m43 camera due to sensor performance). The shot isn’t in full resolution but you’ll get the basic impact. Shot with the Panasonic 20mm f1.7.

Note neither shot was SOOC. the manipulation wasn’t meant to stay from reality, but there’sa bit more pop on the truck I’d guess though it was a cool patina.

Thanks for answering. There are really few wide-angle lenses in the system. Dynamic range. Some cameras from Canon lose even more in this indicator. Thanks for the examples).

Happy to give my thoughts. The latest Canons are much better than once was true. I personally find even a lowly 1/1.7” sensor like the Panasonic LX-7 can work well but it has more limitations due to the sensor performance.

They key is using the tool within the limits: P1220483_DxO by -vanya_42nd-

I got sick. It's three o'clock in the morning. My head hurts, I can't sleep. I like this last photo better).

I’m sorry you’re feeling bad. The composition and subject is better… I should look for something closer to this for the m43 examples.
