A couple years ago, when I got my k70, I was going back and forth like mad between a Pentax DSLR or an Oly MFT platform. I think(?) I make the right choice for me, but I've always wondered which shade of grass I traded for. Seeing these pics, there was no bad answer.

So now I'm thinking about a little Panny and zoom lens. Something that can ride in a cargo pocket or the big pocket of my favorite motorcycle jacket. I also like the idea of swinging into a Best Buy with a wad of cash and walking out with a new accessory. Something that can be Mrs. Rookie's point and shoot when it's not in my jacket.

Dammit guys!

An outdoor agility meet. Far easier to get an ISO & shutter speed suitable to the action.

That was what I thought, too. The GX80/85 isn't really "it", though - it's not small. It's at least as big as a Sony 6000, and subsantially heavier. But it does have IBIS and 4K video. Not that I shoot video

There are still some small Pannies out there but to me it looks like most of the models are putting on weight.

Go cheap, gx1 and a used 12-32 or pz 14-42 both are pancake zooms. There are smaller bodies but most lack good controls. The gx1 lacks in body stabilization, but the lenses will be stabilized if you stick to Panasonic.

Just by what's on paper, without handling any of them, I'd rather the Oly, with it's in camera stability. But the Pany has that rangefinder sexy about it. Looks easier with a pancake lens to slip into a pocket.

I really am thinking about adding another system. Half for Mrs. Rookie to upload better photos of the kids to Facebook, making the iPhone moms jealous of her pics. Half to slip into the motorcycle jacket. If it has to hang on my neck or go in a bag, I may as well take the DSLR.

Three more from agility meets. The corgi was at an indoor meet which means higher ISO and slower TV, so that image doesn't have the IQ of the others. The goldie looks as though it's been properly washed and brushed.

My experience is that the Panasonic bodies are easier to use particularly if you are a Pentax user. Olympus menus are not great - though they aren't totally incomprehensible. If this is for Mrs. Unless she is a serious photographer the GM1 is tiny and capable. The wifi setup is a little quirky but workable. The buggers are expensive however.
