Milky Way 10 July 2020

I've just returned from a short family trip to Dunsborough, Western Australia (about a 3 hour drive south of Perth) and on Friday night we had nice clear skies and I tried my hand at some astrophotography.

I'm regularly stunned by the quality of astro images the skilled members of the forum are able to obtain...I was just pleased to get something I was happy with

Panasonic G85 with Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8 shot at 14mm and f/2.8 for 20 seconds at 1600 ISO and processed in Lightroom.

Cheers

Superb Fairywren. Common where I live, but they don't ever stop still for very long, and they are tiny! The male catches your eye with a blue lightning flash as he darts about through the bushes and trees loudly proclaiming the borders of his kingdom. I hope to get a closer shot of one in better light.

Olympus E-M5ii with 40-150 Pro + MC-14 1.4x teleconverter. 210mm ISO400 f4 1/200sec. Cropped a little.

I tried this spider two ways: 1) with an Oly 60mm macro and 2) with an Oly 75mm f1.8 plus Raynox 250 close-up filter. Can you tell which lens was used for this one?

I compared the originals (higher res at home, obviously) and found it essentially impossible to credit one with higher IQ, but, the 75mm f1.8 Oly has a reputation as an excellent lens, and the two-element Raynox units are far better than any single-element close-up filter. Not sure how they compare with CaNikon or Marumi achromatics, but the Raynox offer much higher magnification.
