I doubt there's any significance difference in terms of sharpness between the Panny and the Oly 100-400s. But the Panny does have better color, contrast, rendering, and it's a third of a pound lighter. A few months back, I did a little research on the Panny and the Oly 300 Pro as possible wildlife lenses solutions. I looked at literally hundreds of images from these two lenses, and the very best images, and the very worst images, tended to be from the Panny. It's a true art lens, but it's very temperamental. The Oly is amazingly sharp, but I didn't care for how it rendered detail. It just didn't look natural to my eyes.
