The GX85 was a turning point for Panasonic. All the cameras since have shared the great colors, quite a far cry from the days of, say, the GX1 I used to shoot with.
I have the GX8 but I don't like its default colors that much, I prefer my wife's GX9 by far.

The GX1 isn’t great with jpg colors, but the gx7 is a gem. I think the improvements came earlier than you think.
Interesting, the GX8 came after the GX7 but I feel like the GX85 had a definite edge over the GX8 too.

It could. I only have the GX1/7/8 and omd-em1/air-01 to compare to in m43.

I don't think there's something as immediate as with Pentax quick shift lenses. On my G95, there's a setting in the menus called AF+MF, the way it works is you first autofocus and then if you keep holding the AF button you can fine tune focus. Or you can switch to MF from the camera, and then back button focus give some limited settings for autofocus. The 100-400 behaves the same as my other Pana lenses.
Thanks, in my case (G9) AF+MF not enough. I need press the same time AF and Fn4 buttons, then manual focus assist starts and i can change focus. Probably some other menu options don't let AF+MF works alone. I will see. Understanding all menu options will take a lot of time.

After enabling AF+MF, which only works in AF-S, look at the MF Assist option, which if you set to both the ring and autofocus. It should go straight to mf assist when you hold the af. Not sure how much the menus differ between the g95 and g9, since the g95 has fewer af areas.

Thanks again. My camera was in AFF mode. In AFS it works exactly as you said.

BTW, the Olympus M.Zuiko 150-400mm F4.5 seems to be something of a unicorn--none of the state-side outlets seem to have it. Just as well since I can't afford it (which isn't to say I wouldn't buy it if it were available. )
