Canon G-series vs. Nikon P series vs. Pentax....?

I think these two lines of enthusiast compacts are the counterparts to each other... I think Olympus also has its own but I'm not sure which (XZ-1?)

So, which do you think performs better for you? And what should/could be Pentax's counterpart to it?

G series has stepped up the sensor game with G1X (slightly smaller than APS-C sensor), but with a fixed zoom lens which isn't that fast.
XZ-1 made a splash with its fast lens when it was launched last year.
Q to me is the dark horse.

Reasons :
1. Price has come down to a more reasonable level (~US$590 here with 01 Prime)
2. Faster lenses
3. Less redundancy as lens can be kept for new body
4. Adapters for fun and practical uses (eg. macro)
5. Fun lenses (Fisheye; Wide)

Imaging Resource has their sample comparisons:
Imaging Resource "Comparometer"

IQ between XZ-1 and Q is a wash imo. (compact camera level)
The G1X is a big step ahead in IQ. I'd think with its size, its better compared to a m4/3 camera.

You can say "Ricoh GR".

Ok: not for the same niche market with its prime lens.

With the sensor size of the G1X it does seem Canon is leading this category...

It depends where you are coming from.
IQ for larger viewing, higher iso performance, larger prints, yes, G1X is better.

Small enough to fit into my jogging pouch, negligible encumbrance, while having good enough quality to view normally, then Q or XZ1 are tops over it.

Nikon P7100 is better for me as I can out my Nikon flash on it (if I'm desperate!)
If I owned Canon gear I'd get the Canon.

Isn't the G1X a fixed lens camera? I wouldn't mind getting it as a small camera to use, but at it's price.. i'd rather wait for the Q to drop to 500 and go with that.

It's not THAT small...not that much smaller than a K-5 body. I find the G1X bulky and large.

Yeah G1X seems large, I was deciding between G12 (or G13, whatever the latest one is), the P7100, the Fuji X10.
