Low price rumor FF Nikon D600

Just happen to saw this rumor on another Pentax forum.

Link: More Nikon D600 rumors | Nikon Rumors

The price of the D600 is rumored to be very low - maybe as low as $1500.
The sensor inside the D600 will probably be 24MP (made by Sony, modified by Nikon).
The D600 will probably not have an internal AF motor, which means it will work only with AF-S lenses (just like the D3200 and D5100).
The D600 will have HD video.
Announcement before Photokina (September 2012).
One or more low-priced f/4 lenses will be announced with the D600. For example, Nikon recently filed a patent for a 24-70mm f/3.5-4.5 full frame lens which seems to be designed for a cheaper FX DSLR body.

** If this "cheap" FF sensor is available..... the rumor FF of K-3 could be possible? **

folks love to bash pentax, but at least so far they have had the good taste not to break the FA lenses by leaving the screw drive out of their camera bodies.

Thankfully that is true. To do so would leave a very small group of Pentax lenses that would work on such a body. I would hope they wouldn't go there, but it is very hard to say what the future holds these days.

If they leave off the screw drive they will probably leave off the AI linkage as well. So no MF lenses either.

So, Nikon might offer a cheap FF camera, and all people can do is winge that it is not as full spec as they would like?

Then buy the D800, or the D700.

Meanwhile, in Pentax land, still no FF camera.

I just realised, this D600 might even have a chrome shutter button! The horror!

Yea but at least they have a complete afs lineup with reliable motors.

IF... this is true.. I will likely buy into these bodies for my stationary work.
IF... this is true... Pentax will have no one to blame for their losses other than themselves.

TBH. This does sound like a TGTBT scenario. Why? because it just seems to perfect. I mean think about it. Giving the people what they want instead of making money? This low cost, MF FF body would become the entry point to everyone shooting studio? In fact, it would also turn the macro, landscape and most anything other than sports and action photography field up on its head.

Would I buy into this?
If were talking the D800/X sensor then you can be sure I'd be placing my pre-order as soon as it were available IF the price was right. TBH, I find the current FF prices to be way out of whack in terms of D800 mainly due to the features etc. However... if the body came under $2000, then I wouldn't think twice about putting together two kits for my home studio.

But I must admit, I am the skeptic at this stage.
And so I'm left with; I hope so... But I don't think so.

Having said ALL THAT...
What could Pentax do to save face against such a powerful medium?
Well I tell you what I think they could do: a LOW COST, M, MF 645D camera!
Yep that's right, a 3000.00 645MD camera sporting the upcoming MF sensor that would put a nail in Nikon's plans to take over the market by storm. That's what I would do. Otherwise... if this pans-out, I honestly believe Pentax may end-up on the chopping block in the near future. Anyways, lets hope that isn't the case and keep our heads-up. - Cause I for one, have grown quite fond of my Pentax logo over the years.

Well, its true that it sucks of you do have existing lenses that require the body motor, but it would still appeal to those that have a few afs lenses upgrading from APS-C or the rich newcomers that are looking at jumping into FF rightaway without prior investment. It sucks but thats how businesses works.

It appears the D600 will use a non-Sony sensor, and is being co-developed by Nikon with Aptina. (Aptina and Nikon collaborated on the J1).

Young guy at my company has his first child coming and his first dSLR, too - Stopped in my office last week to let me know he ordered a D3x and 24~70.2.8G and 70~200/2.8G. Because, you know, its for the children. Don't want to miss those precious moments.

What about when the children are having a precious moment that's rather panoramic? He should really get a wide angle, too.
