Fuji X10 - worth buying?

What's your opinion on Fuji X10? Is it worth buying?

Someone wants to sell his X10 for $500 and pictures he shared are just P&S type, I personally never used Fuji X10 or X100 so I have no idea why X10 is worth that much being a small sensor one (I guess NEX5n would be of same size).

Thanks

Have you taken a look at the https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/non-pentax-cameras-canon-nikon-etc/166455-post-your-fujifilm-x100-x10-pictures-67.html#post1990391? It's 67 pages of photos from all 3 Fuji mirrorless cameras, probably half of them X10's

I'm shooting with the X100, so I can't answer your question - but the X10 shooters are very clearly pleased with their cameras, and getting some stunning photos with them, too. Mike Cash in particular is doing some stellar work with his! For some of Mike's X10 photos, check this post - gorgeous!, and this one, and this one

Yeah I saw that before posting, that's the reason I wondering what demand that price for a small sensor cam.

It sounds like you want a DSLR or M4/3 rather than a point n shoot. The Fuji is a very nice camera for PnS. I thought about the X10 and decided on Olympus XZ-1. Much less expensive and great IQ. sample pics here if interested http://www.flickr.com/photos/donscreation/sets/72157628874004277/

I still love my X10...with a passion! While there are several similar small cameras around, none of them have the same winning combination of features that I love with the X10. Fast lens, great Fuji color, a solid professional all metal body in a classic retro design, a wide range of specialty settings, full manual control, and not least of all on a bright sunny day....an OVF!

Is it perfect? None of them are......but the X10 has that solid feel to the body that makes you feel like shooting every time you hold it. I take it everywhere...and shoot almost everything.... a ton of "junk" shots, but that's what makes it so much fun....sometimes you get a winner when you least expect it!

A few of my X10 "junk" shots here....nothing of consequence, but with the X10 you tend to shoot everything!
Fuji -x10 - a set on Flickr

Love the Fuji colors and skin tones....

For night shooting, the Pro Low Light setting is simply amazing! No tripod needed it takes several shots at different settings and combines them in camera to eliminate noise and blur....and works almost flawlessly.

A lot more sense. The sensor in the RX-100 is way better and 2X bigger than the sensor in the X-10.

Maybe? It is twice the size, twice the price, and has a fixed lens with no possibility to zoom. If you are going to spend that much money, the X-Pro would make the most cents of your sense.

Rupert, you must have the RX-100 confused with something else... The RX-100 will only be $50 more than the X-10 and it does have an optical zoom range equivalent of 28mm~100mm.

The X10's manual zoom is a positive for me! The Macro is another positive. The fast lens is yet another added positive. All metal frame. Did I mention the stellar lens? And finally there's that fantastic Fuji color and spactular JPEG engine! Heck, I even like and use the optical view finder! Great manual controls and it feels solid......not at all like moulded plastic. Feels like a camera..........Did I mention that lens?

I have my X10 with me every single day! ZERO problems.

My mistake...I thought you said X100.....People keep telling me it's a good idea to read a post before replying, but Otis says for me to just shoot my mouth off like a machine gun and don't worry about looking like an idiot....since it is hopeless anyhow!

I still prefer the X10.The OVF is an absolute necessity in the bright Texas sun at times. The all metal build and the solid feel are also very addictive to hold. However, having stated my bias, I do feel that there are several really nice small cameras available in the X10 range, and I like it that everyone has a choice to suit their particular needs.

Best Regards!

I see Will is another X10 addict.......he about said it all. Most that try it, buy it!

Rupert, I do like the X10 and I've got the scars to prove my devotion to that wonderful little camera.

Dpreview states... "The RX100's aluminium body is solid and reassuringly weighty... The RX100 is a solid, well-constructed little camera."

I never found DPR's opinion/reviews valuable. You tend to get what they pay for. Matter-of-fact it's generally quite biased. With some careful independent checking I think you'll find the X10 to be superior to the RX100 in shutter speed, frames per second, focus point, Macro distance, manual Zoom, OVF, low light photography and color accuracy. Like sex is not just the size of the sensor that's important, but how it's used. Fuji has developed a tremendous lens/sensor combinations in the X10 and X100 that rival many larger sensor systems. Again, some additional data collection might be valuable.
