New Canon

I see Canon have released the 450D (or other names):

12.2 megapixel CMOS sensor
SD/SDHC cards
Larger viewfinder
Live view mode, including contrast-detect AF
3.0" LCD monitor
Continuous shooting at 3.5fps for up to 53 JPEG (6 RAW)
ISO setting displays in viewfinder and ISO button
14 bit A/D converter and processing
Multi-shot self-timer mode
Highlight Tone Priority (from 40D)
Auto Lighting Optimiser (boosts shadows after shooting)

Looks like a goodie. Interesting that they change to SD cards now - Pentax was right all along!

SDHC cards are very handy and I prefer this than CMF cards.

So another new model. Kind of funny to see these low end models come and go so quick ...

I also head this news. But they will go quickly. Because people knew that pentax cameras are good in all situations.

They certainly did more than Nikon did in updating the d40x to the d60

Indeed the D60 is a very minor upgrade, they're proabably annoyed they had already used the D50 name!

I had the ultimate in ignorance the other day. I was carrying my camera and a photog for the local paper needed someone to hold the wireless flash and picked me cos I somewhat looked like I knew what I was doing (K10D + grip + 18-125 + EF-500 flash looks pretty formidable, haha).

Anyhow, he asked what I was shooting with, I said Pentax. He said 'who?' I said, you know, Pentax. To which he replied 'Oh, yeah, they are made by *can't remember the name* and rebadged Pentax'. Um, no, Pentax is Pentax. 'Oh, never heard of them before.'

At that point I walked off as I knew I was talking to someone with their head in a Nikon-filled hole.
