What will Sony put their 1" sensor in next? Bridge superzoom?

It sounds like cannibalism over their larger-sensor cameras, but they in effect did that already with the RX100: 2 stops smaller sensor than the NEX kit, but 2 stops faster lens (at the wide end).

If Sony shoehorn a 1" sensor into a bridge camera behind a 24-480mm 2.0-4.9 lens, well... I know what I would be taking on holiday.

I think it would sell in spades at $799.

I'm sure hoping they will put it in the new X10 replacement! Same great body, same great glass! It would be a killer camera! They have already sold tons of X10's and have a almost cult-like following.....I'm betting every one of those X10 shooters would jump on it...I sure would!

Regards!

I think a 24-480mm eqiv lens would cost much more than a 28-100mm like on the RX100 and have to cost in the $1,000 price range.

The 28-112 on my X10 has turned out to be a very decent range. Very useful for most situations. A little wider would be nice, but it works as is, and is plenty fast at both ends. I'd like the same lens with the new Sony sensor.
Regards!

And, should such a thing be announced, it would indeed probably come out at near to $1K. I just think it would sell in far more volume if it were priced down a notch.

Much like the RX100 coming out at $650. Sure, it will still sell, and I thought it was an acceptable price as a birthday gift for my wife. However, the real volume will come when they bring it down to $400 (at which price it will still be amply profitable), which I think will be by Q2 2013.

For some reason, the X-S1 reminds me of a geoduck!
