I know, and it's plastic and only costs half off the K-01.

The K-01 has a larger sensor than the Canon APS-C DSLRs like the 7D.

Looks like they are going after the NEX-5N. Even the lenses look like Sony's E-mount designs.

Agree, although the body reminded me more of the Panasonic GF3/GF5.

If it has APS-C and accepts EF lenses, I think I am interested.

I personally doubt that Canon even cares about the K-01

I think Canon is plenty worried about Sony. BCN rankings show Sony is overall #2 camera maker and the NEX line has sold very well.

This camera looks like it is aimed at the NEX and Panasonic GF3/5 market.

It hasn't been a good year for Canon - the 1DX and 5D3 were ecliped by the D4 and D800E, and Sony and Panasonic have produced more interesting compacts. Even the G1X which was groundbreaking in many ways is now eclipsed by the RX100.

No EVF or OVF......great for cloudy days or night shooting....not much else.

I have only used my K-01 on sunny days so far just like a billion other people on the planet who shoot photos on sunny days without an OVF or EVF.

First, some LCD such as RX100's "White Magic" has been reported to very visible even under direct sunlight.

Second, note the large number of data contacts in the hot shoe - a total of 8 data contacts!

So there will be some accessories for the hot shoe - an EVF?
If this turns out to be true, it would be much neater than those proprietary accessory ports.

Actually I liked this design better than K-01, just a personal preference though.

[sigh] on second look, two of them looks more like screws, and the top middle one is probably for locking pin......

Looks like a good camera for people who would otherwise buy a Rebel. It will give them the picture quality they want, in a smaller size, with less intimidating controls.

I agree this is a Canon vs Sony battle.
