I've always been a 100% RAW documentary kind of guy, but I really like the art filters on the RX100. Here's a recent one from Cape Cod:

Looks like a computer generated graphic. As for art filters, the Pentax Q is without peer.

Gotta disagree. I'm playing with a Q10 right now as well, and the filters aren't anywhere near as good as Sony's or Olympus's, and the image quality is... not great.

We can agree to disagree about the filters, but as for image quality, well the Q isn't exactly a pixel peepers wet dream; however let the evidence speak for itself!

These were taken with a Q... https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q/204091-q-fw-v1-1-da-55-300-handheld.html

Back to the pics then.... I am still really impressed with what this pocket camera can do I've taken ~3,000 pics with it in 3 months, in 2 years I only took 1,000 with my S90, says something.

Nice shots. I'm impressed with the sky in both, and the apparent dynamic range of this little cam. Ditto for Christine's lunchtime walkabout shots.

Or am I really only admiring the PP?

Shh - don't tell anyone, but apparently there are rumours floating around that the RX100 can actually be used as a compact point and shoot - it doesn't always need to be used to produce DSLR quality shots.

Here's my attempts using the RX100 as a point and shoot - at the Sony sneak preview of the 4K projector, TV and high end AR1 speakers in Australia.

Sony engineer and product manager showing off the AR1 speaker (if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it):

Admiring the 84" 4K Bravia:

The 4K SXRD projector - I had to engage focus tracking to point to the word 4K - so this is strictly speaking not a point and shoot image:

There were at least two of us there with RX100s.

Funny moment during the preview. Sony product manager asked us if we wanted lights to be turned up to get a good photo - we both replied simultaneously "There's no need. The RX100 will handle it." :-)

And here's the flipside - me using the Sony preview as an opportunity to take more photos to satisfy my photographic urge.

I can't speak for Christine, but my 2 shots were both shot as jpegs, no HDR, and I just pulled the highlights down in lightroom in PP. Both were ISO125 which is about max DR. I think if you check DXO the DR for the RX100 is pretty impressive.
