And as Sony themselves have conceded (and as you can see in the Imaging Resource ISO 800 and ISO 1600 samples), compared to the S100, the RX100 will have more visible noise. It's easy to see in their JPG samples.
I am looking at the ISO 1600 samples, and I note 2 things:
- The RX100 needs only 1/40s vs 1/25s for the S100 to get the same exposure.
- The S100 applies much more NR, it's quite obvious in low contrast fine details sections like the hairs.
