Fujifilm X-E1, the little brother of X-Pro1

Fujifilm X-E1, "E" standing for "Enthusiast(s)"

In black and in silver-and-black, with electronic viewfinder (no OVF nor hybrid viewfinder) and pop-up flash.

To be announced at Photokina and to be sold with kit-zoom Fujinon XF 18-55 mm f/2,8-4 OIS

Note that the zoom has no aperture ring (like the primes) but a switch instead.

The black and silver looks very cool. Reminds me of a Rollei I had a a teenager. I wonder if the EVF is as good or better than the ones on the Sony NEX?

Looks great to me, hopefully it will be a lot more affordable than the xpro1

I imagine it will be priced at the level of the NEX-7 and (rumored) NEX-6. Hopefully it will sell well enough to assure that Fuji continues supporting the system.

At launch, suggested retail price was $1,200 for X100 and $1,700 for X-Pro1 (body only), so I would say around $1,300-1,400 for X-E1 (body only).

Have been finding other stories online about this body and most are referencing live view only and no EVF or OVF.

Oh well, not much different than most other mirrorless cameras I reckon.

Contrary to other reports, like the X-Pro1 we expect the X-E1 to have a viewfinder. The eye cup on the back of the camera suggests EVF TTL only. Since OVF is omitted the price might decrease. Plus there’s a pop-up flash. The layout of the buttons and dials on the upper surface is almost the same as X-Pro1. But according to our sources the real news is in the X-E1′s insides. Autofocus speed will convince any X series doubter. Expect C-AF and tracking to be useful.

the X=E1 photograph looks to me like it shows an EVF.

Exciting? Maybe? It sure looks interesting! Time will tell, it always does! Going on a year with the X10 and love it more with each passing day.
Regards!

It fixes my problem with the x-pro1 (I thought it was a bit too large).

Now if they weather sealed it (along with their lenses), I would be very tempted to purchase one.

2.8-4 makes a nice change from the usual 3.5-5.6, it could be a nice zoom but probably a $300 add on rather than $100?

First set of specifications for the upcoming Fujifilm X-E1 :

- Same 16MP sensor as in the X-Pro1 (with maximum ISO of 25,600)
- 6 fps
- Light magnesium body
- Improved AF speed
- Viewfinder: EVF only (not hybrid as the X-Pro1)
- Same video recording capabilities as the X-Pro1
- Mic input
- Pull 25 ISO to simulate Velvia in JPEG mode
- Two colors: black and silver
- Price: below $1,000 (this is a good surprise, i thought it would be more expensive)
- To be released before Christmas

I'd need to see 2 things improved to consider one :
1. AF speed
2. EVF/shutter lag
3. MF features (eg. peaking)

But with the coming K5 replacement, and FF early next year, I doubt I'll have money left for this

Love the sensor, not a fan of this body.

I did like how the X-Pro-1 looks
