Sony A99 FF Final specs, price and sketch...

With Photokina within arms reach, results are pouring in from all corners of the interweb with sightings and leaks for upcoming products. That being said, according to Sony Alpha rumors, the latest on the street is that the A99 will have an estimated street price of $2800.00 along with what looks like a detailed spec. list complete with body styling sketches. The announcement date for the A99 is slated for Sept. 12'th of this year.

Trusted sources claim that the A99 body will be introduced at/or around $2800 Dollars. Though prices are expected to vary from country to country. In other information the A99 is expected to bring a number of unique features into the DSLR market as the only FF hybrid still and video translucent mirror system packed with new and innovative features.

  • New accessories to be released with the a99: battery grip, flash, remote control, microphone etc.
  • Very light, weather sealed magnesium alloy body.With 730 g this is the lightest FF body on market!

It will be interesting to see how the A99 will stack-up against the upcoming D600 in terms of IQ and overall performance. Though with improvements such as increased shutter performance, it's likely that Nikon will use the price point advantage with their upcoming D600. - time will tell.

But its not confirmed what sensor nikon use for D600?

The VF hump reminds me so much of the old Pentaxes. Which is why I doubt the one in the video is real...

The a99 in the video looks like a students design project. There is too much work there for it to be someone wanting to start a fake rumour, but it does not have the feel of a Sony professional product. The video is too high energy.

The design element of the viewfinder hump reads as if it is a pentamirror and not an ELF.

I expect the a99 will look like the a77, and that would be like the drawings at the start of this thread.

A99 AF system: 102 sensors, 39 "classical" (of which 11 cross sensors), 63 on image sensor. See attached picture.

Now let's see initial perception of the long-hmm, awaited? Sony FF followup to the A850 once it's posted over at dpReview...
Seems hybrid AF is the "in" thing nowadays

I'm just wondering if it would affect sensor's light-gathering performance, by putting AF sensors on the sensor itself?
