Thanks!

Looks good. Still a bit too steep for me for what you get, but with the EVF certainly an attractive product.

If any of you guys get this I will be totally jealous

All right, now it's about time Ricoh comes forward with an GRD5 or whatever it will be called, with a 28-35mm lens and an APS-C sensor. And OVF.
Ways better than X100, more elegant and less chunky than RX1.
But I like the aperture ring and dof scale on this RX1 Zeiss lens; MF must be as smooth as butter too, I presume. Or, exactly the things Fuji has missed to make X100 and the X system of theirs usable.

No idea about other people, but I can't possibly imagine spending 3K on a fixed lens camera
You're not alone. I'll be interested to see where Sony goes from here, but from these initial reports, it looks like this camera might be a very limited niche camera.

Hmmmmm... This is like a point-and-shoot camera fitted with a 35mm full frame sensor but stuck in a fixed lens, but maybe they'll add a digital zoom maximized up to a 1.5x crop factor...

Looking at the price, and assigning a arbitary $1000 to the CZ 35/2 on it (not uncommon for a FF MF CZ lens for various mounts), the camera still cost $2K.
To me, this reflects the reality of costs and pricing segments camera makers place on a FF camera.
So D600 at $1500 is not likely.

This is a damn tempting camera for street shooters, but the price will definitely limit it's appeal. that being said they may be testing the waters like the X100 dis before releasing an ILC variant

EDIT - I'll add that at the price they should throw in the optical VF add on. no need for EVF just a framing device

Owning the X100 and looking at the X pro 1 plus 1 lens, i'd say this would interest me a little more, the cost of the two are similar. The OVF isn't accurate on the X-100 and i think it's the same on the X pro 1 so EVF is good...then there's the E1

choices, are driving me mad now....lol

It's a matter of time before this format is FF and with interchangeable lenses. The NEX line will probably carry a FF at some point.

I have the RX100 and it's the best point and shoot I've ever owned. I carry it daily and it covers everything the DSLR can do minus the bokeh and long telephoto lenses (I don't shoot much long lens) High ISO is near as good as the K5 with a point and shoot.

I for one an waiting for it.

It's all about baby steps. Why jump straight to an interchangeable lens camera when they can first make a fixed lens camera and the next year sell you another one with interchangeable lenses. I think they tore a page out of Fuji's book.

Are there any other compacts that do this?

"AVCHD 2.0 video processing"

and yes, i agree with eddie1960...EVF should be included in the price

I agree, a compact FF would be the ultimate street shooter and if that Zeiss 35mm F2.0 has the image quality of the $3,195 35mm F2.0 Leica lens it might even be a bargain.

Leica 35mm f/2.0 Summicron M Aspherical Manual Focus Lens 11879

If Sony came out with an interchangeable lens mount version I would order it today.

For my kind of shooting this is a really, really awesome looking piece of kit. Put a $200 Voigtlander finder in the hot shoe and you have one great street/carry-everywhere camera - from what we know at this point.
For a full-frame sensor and 35/2 lens... understandable price.

Sony is most likely using a new sensor of their own make. Add a custom fitted Zeiss lens and I can't see how the IQ could be anything else but marvelous.
yeah but with 3 or 4 different Zeiss lenses would be even better.
