Not sure about "we" I can only speak for me, and my K-7 is over 2years old, and I would like something better. So yes I would of liked to of upgraded to a K-3. (But that has nothing to do with this thread)

Good 2 years ago, is not good for my next 2 year investment and especially not at a new higher inflated price, If Pentax can't deliver a K-3 or decent upgrade for customers like myself, than absolutely I'm looking at alternative system choices, and look forward to the announcements from others at Photokina to see my options.
A99 is nice, but I'm not sure I could live with certain things, and the price is a little too expensive, when I would likely go for a D800e for not much more money and keep the OVF as well.
I will have to check out the A99, D800e, and respective glass choices, between now and December, I will also look at the Fuji after the latest firmware updates. So it's nice to have choices.
I agree with above comments, that Sony did better with 3 announcements than Pentax have done with 8 this time around.
