Thanks for showing, I'm impressed by the skin tones in that ISO 6400 shot!

By going through this thread I have a feeling that soon PF market place will be flooded with Pentax gear for sale...this is sad but the reality is Pentax is too slow to adapt to the reality (pun intended).

The Market Place has already had a increase in activity as several users have quietly started selling their gear. At least 5 users I can think of have ordered D600s or already have D800s. I can think of 2 more who have sold Pentax gear and are now posting over on the Fuji forums (XP-1).

Well make it one more as I will be ordering the D800 in a month. Not sure if I should go with a D600 but for sure it's either D600 or D800. Meanwhile I'll be selling all my Pentax bodies and a bunch of Pentax lenses to fund the Nikon purchase.

I'll probably keep both K100D and K10D to dedicate them to the few Pentax primes that I will keep, also they don't have much resale values now that the K5 can be had for $600 used...

Go for the D800. It is practically 2 cameras in one with the ability to crop to a 16MP APS-C, and with 36MP it can come close to rivaling MF when it comes to some applications..... Look at it like getting a 16MP APS-C camera, and a FF with MF resolution all in one body for only $3,200. Sounds like a really good deal to me.

My D600 arrived this morning. I was able to fully charge the battery while waiting for the lens to arrive which I bought from a different source. I haven’t had more than a half hours time to play with it. My first impressions; This is a very nice piece of equipment. The size and weight fits nicely in may hands. Operation is smooth and rather quite. I am very pleased with the purchase. Hopefully I will have more time tomorrow to use it.

Some first pictures.

D800 is 4 cameras in one and well worth the extra money IMO.

D800 Crop Modes:
1x = 36,152,320 pixels
1.2x = 25,067,520 pixels
1.5x = 15,360,000 pixels
4:5 = 30,179,328 pixels

Great samples!

I'm in the process of (probably) getting a D600/D7000 combo, but I have to sell everything first. One thing I did notice was that my subscriber count on my Youtube has started dropping like mad since I talked about switching. Guess some Pentaxians are a little too focused on brand to look past that.

Yes, art has no idea of brand loyalty.

One quick and dirty jpeg from Jackson Wyoming. Smoke was a problem, but my linear polarizer and graduated ND filter helped some what.

I edited it a little on my laptop monitor, so I'm sure it isn't very good. I'll convert the raws when I get home. Yellowstone is tomorrow.'

Awesome, rich colors...i know this isn't a critique thread, but maaaaaybe crop a tad off your right to get rid of the small branches coming out of the top right corner. But really a great shot

Does the D600 have micro AF adjustment on a lens by lens basis? I've read conflicting information on that.

Thanks,

Those branches work for me [down the right side] but I agree it would be better without the corner branches. I wouldn't crop but would use PS to remove them with the clone tool. They [branches down the right edge] form a nice 'frame' and stop your attention from running off the page to the right. Combined with the clouds they form an arc which channels (and cycles) your attention throughout the image and getting rid of them would remove an effective compositional device. The only major 'problem' with the composition is the empty middle ground..

Thanks,
Yes, it does. DPReview initially stated incorrectly that the D600 did not have AF micro adjust. I believe that is where that misinformation started.
