Looks adorably weird with the battery grip.

Fastest AF of all ILCs. Pretty bold statement.

Touch screen, not a fan.

Look very solid but we'll see... I haven't heard any mention of them keeping the multi-aspect sensor so here's hoping.

Don't like touch-screens - don't use 'em! I've never 'touched' (geddit!?) the one on my GH2...

So now Micro 4/3's bodies are getting as big as APS-C bodies...
Someone remind me why we have Micro 4/3?

Get the GF5 if you want a small camera or the GH2 if you also want a 1.53mp EVF and better 1080p video quality than the 5D MKIII.

"Genesis" GH3 short film !

QuoteQuote:
As mentioned, as soon as the camera is announced fully I can talk more and I will also show the excellent BTS video by Micky Jones!

So enjoy our little film. Personally I can’t wait to get my hands on a full functioning release model as the features it have are exceptional and going form my experience with this very early model it should be a damn fine camera!! This really is a great new tool for us filmmakers. Just remember though, this is a tool…not a religion

Lens wise we used all micro 4/3 or 4/3 glass…A lot on the great Voigtlander 25mm F0.95, used on almost all the low light stuff as well as the SLR Magic 12mm F1.4. The Olympus 14-35 F2 was out workhouse. Used this A LOT. Also the 35-100 F2. Great glass. Not ideal for movie shooting though with the loss of focus when zooming in and fiddly focus. Lots of lumix glass was used to especially the brand new lenses coming out soon!

GH3 full leak and preorder!

The Panasonic DMC-GH3 Lumix Body (Black), is a new and highly evolved model from LUMIX, creator of the world’s first digital single lens mirrorless (DSLM) camera.

The body has been engineered to incorporate a 16.05-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor, a 4-CPU Venus Engine, and a newly designed low-pass filter. The creative expression made possible by these innovations, render even the finest textures in intricate detail, breaking new ground in photographic realism. The new model also features Contrast AF with a high level of response. And its magnesium alloy frame is tightly sealed to resist splashes and dust, making the DMC-GH3 rugged enough to withstand the rigors of professional use.

Features:

16.05-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor
HDR (High Dynamic Range)
Double OLED Display
Splash/Dustproof Design
Full-HD Progressive
Smartphone or Tablet Linking
In addition to supporting a wide range of recording formats, the DMC-GH3 features a special heat-dispersing design for extended high-quality recording. Its specifications match those of many professional cameras, ensuring that it meets the demands of video field work. The LUMIX GH3 was designed from the ground up to provide seamless multi-media performance for both stills and videos. It may well be the world’s first camera to please professional photographers by offering them the best of both.

The DMC-GH3 features a 16.05-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor with a level of sensitivity that produces flowing gradation from shadows to highlights. High resolution and a wide dynamic range create truly stunning images that look like you could reach out and touch them. High-sensitivity ISO 12800 (extended: ISO 25600) and extensive noise reduction give you remarkable images even in dim lighting.

In the DMC-GH3′s Contrast AF system, the image sensor doubles as the AF sensor to resist any mechanical margin of error. Compared with Phase Difference AF, the focusing is precise even at small F-numbers. A faster sensor and engine also achieve a higher focus detection speed than most traditional DSLR models.

The DMC-GH3 gives you 1920 x 1080 60p [NTSC] / 50p [PAL] Full-HD recording. Progressive scanning records every frame, so the amount of data contained is twice that of interlace scanning, and the images have extremely high definition.

The Wi-Fi(R) function lets you use a smartphone* to make settings and press the shutter button remotely, a short distance from the camera. The auto transfer function is handy for automatically backing up photos onto a tablet. This lets you monitor them on the tablet without having to upload them to a PC. You can also start timer interval video recordings from a smartphone. And you can use GPS data to simultaneously record the shooting location onto your images.

Genesis – is this the Reverie moment for the GH3?

QuoteQuote:
The GH3 may be notable for being the first camera under $10,000 for doing high bitrate ALL-I in 1080/60p. Yes 60p not just 48p, 30p or 24p. The specs aren’t yet 100% confirmed in detail yet though so I will have to wait and see if 1080/60p is AVCHD 2.0 spec on the GH3 or if it is also part of the custom ALL-I 72Mbit mode. The FS100 only does 1080/60p in 28Mbit and it does look far too compressed for my liking. Using a external HDMI recorder like the Blackmagic Hyperdeck Shuttle is only a solution for 24/25p because it doesn’t support 1080/60p. So if you want that in-camera the GH3 has an advantage there over cameras like the C300, C100 and FS100.

Key differences from the DMC-GH2

•Improved sensor and latest Venus image processor
•Weather sealed magnesium alloy body
•OLED EVF and rear display (versus LCD)
•60p video capture (versus 60i /30p)
•80Mbps bit rate maximum (versus 24Mbps)
•3.5mm mic socket (rather than 2.5mm)
•Headphone socket
•6 fps continuous shooting (versus 5)
•Five custom Fn buttons (versus three) and a second control dial
•Compatible with new DMW-BGGH3 battery grip
•PC socket for external flash
•Interval shooting
•HDR and multiple exposure modes

Compared to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2

With the GH2 having gained such a strong following among enthusiasts and videographers, Panasonic has clearly prioritized external controls and accessory compatibility. As such, the GH3 is a noticeably more bulky camera than its predecessor, comparable in size to the Sony SLT-A57. As you'll see in the image below, control points have been redesigned and much of the camera's layout has been re-adjusted for the larger body.

Name a single APS body that weighs 470g body-only and goes anywhere near approaching this level of build-quality/sealing and direct manual control. Now, just for fun, find one that come in at just 855g with a battery, card and 12-35/f2.8 zoom.

That's why we have Micro Four thirds.

Looks like a very nice camera. I think I'm crazy I'd rather have this than the K5!

Someone needs to build a GPS unit for it. Won't use the cell phone kludge.
