ok, so it's confirmed, my brand new in box D800 will arrive late next week and I'll be picking it up by the latest Friday! All thats left with my dealer are demo models, hence why I'm waiting for the next Nikon shipment.
I'm very excited, this is the camera I should have bought in the first place. I don't think I did too bad on my sale either. but now that I have figured out how to take advantage of the D600 to suit me, I can't wait to do the same with the D800, should be easier in ways, trickier in others.
I sold: D600 with all standard accessories, extra battery, kit lens, battery grip, and wireless adapter for $2000. I bought the kit/body/LR4 when it was on sale for $2000 around Christmas, so really I did well I think, loosing only about $300 total on the sale from new. and I sold the LR4 for $100 previously. So really, only lost $200. lol
Hopefuly I'll have enough coin left over to grab that Tam 28-75mm f2.8 lens. If not, not biggie, I can grab it next month...as long as I have it before I shoot some weddings in August.
June 21 I'll be having a lot of fun with this camera as I shoot a "Night Bike" event here in the city (where people load their bikes up with glow sticks, LED stirps, and the like) and that should be really cool.
Anyways, I got tons of Lexar 32GB Pro SD cards (x400 I think), but dont have a single CF card. I like the over flow abilities of the second card. I need to obviously grab a couple of CF cards because of the insane ammount of pixels this thing outputs.
what have other D800 owners enjoyed in CF land, what has worked best? Is there any reason NOT to use the SD card slots for RAW recording? I want to grab at least 2 32gb cards and a couple of 16's before the wedding to complement my 8 32gb Lexar SD's.
Biggest thing I can't wait for? assigning the ISO adjustment button to a front facing function button I can reach with my right hand while having the 80-200 and viewfinder up to my face. At least I hope I can...the salesman at the store seems to believe so. that and 1/8000'sec shutter speed.
