Pentax , release a full frame DSLR, make it famous, so that zeiss will make this lens in K-mount! Seriously though, the results @1.4 in that video were impressive.

I'd love to compare it with my Voigt 58/1.4, also made by Cosina, but I expect this new design would trump it wide-open.

Edit: it would be good to know what 50mm lens he's comparing to in the video.

Nice lens but the banal marketing video really is irritating as they forget to mention that their amazing new €3000 lens actually costs 10 times more than its competitors..

Why not just use the DA*55?

Why use any Zeiss lenses over Pentax equivalents? Why use well-damped manual focus lenses over autofocus? There are lots of reasons, but in the end it boils down to "to each their own".

I'm not going to argue for this new lens based on a video and reports from the manufacturer, I expect it will be optically superior wide-open to the DA*55, but we won't know that for a while. That said, the price tag is way over my budget.

My pics may need a lot of improvement but a $4000 lens is not the place to look for that improvement.
