That's the trade...size vs wider FOV vs max aperture. Can't really have all three unless you use a smaller sensor.
Can't please everyone.
GXR A12 28/2.5 could.

It could...what?
Satisfy everyone? It isn't small nor is it the f2.0 that others have mentioned.

It's small and f2.5 is good. And a bit faster than Nikon A lens.

Is it really that small? I would like to see a picture of one in someone's hands.

Honestly the GXR has been on my radar for a while, especially for this 28mm module.
I am holding onto my K28 f2.0 for the day i can use it on full frame :/

I'd be tempted to buy it at 700. It would be great at concerts when DSLRs aren't allowed.

You could do the same with the NEX-5 or 3 and have way more options for lenses. Believe it or not, the NEX is actually smaller than the Nikon. With the pancacke zoom, the NEX fits into most pockets and delivers K-5 like quality.

Compare camera dimensions side by side

Design needs some work, imo.

Other than that, its another one of those latest and greatest gadgets that allow one to bask in the envy of photographic peers for about 6mths.
Then feel like the sucker who paid too high price as the prices drops considerably and a ILC version comes out (like X100).

There are a lot of cameras doing about the same stuff with various form factors, fixed lens or ILC with various sensor sizes (m4/3; nex; advanced pns; )
APS-C sensor, yeah, but too high a price and fixed lens, so its a niche camera.

Of course the general public does not know all this.
All that will be pushed to them through marketing is that its a cool aps-c sensor with a fast lens and wide angle (to take their group shots with).
and it 'takes good photos for them'.

28mm is too wide for a compact with a fixed prime. 35mm is the absolute widest I would consider in this type of camera, otherwise it's just not useful as a general purpose camera.

I respectfully disagree. You can always crop to get a tighter image. The opposite is not true.

Wow the NEX is pretty small! The thing is at concerts I've been at they consider anything with a removable lens a professional camera, and won't allow them. Sometimes the rule says no cameras with interchangeable lenses, and they do enforce them most of the time in Los Angeles.

To be honest, no one is going to figure out the NEX is an ILC unless they really know cameras. It's quirky and small enough looking that people think it's just an odd P&S.

Usually the ILC rule is directed specifically at DSLRs.

It happened to me once with an E-PL2, and a 14mm pancake.

You have got to be one seriously unlucky person

My condolences!

I think so, which is why I want to be sure and have a camera with a big sensor without a removable lens. haha.

I bought a Sony RX100 for concerts, and it's been really good. I'd like to try the Nikon, but it's so expensive.
