Yes, there seems to be a lot of tripod advocacy on this thread.

That's a great shot of the tumbledown building. Looks like that door is the only straight part on there.

Here's one more from that night, still rockin' the tripod... well, not literally...

Yes, its the same building.
Its called the 'Art Science Museum' and has different exhibits running thru the year.

Its supposed to be inspired by the lotus flower, but anyone with a Chinese background knows that its rooted in geomancy (or 'fengshui') and the big casinos believe in it too and incoorporate them in their casinos. (Sands in this case)
So in fengshui, ppl like to term it a '5 finger mountain' (which it looks like); an impregnable mountain/prison where there is no escape.
So the money goes into the casino, no going out
Oof, you're making me realize the huge gap between Western and Eastern culture. You're trying to teach me fengshui, and I'm still trying to figure out the sound of one hand clapping.

This bears investigation. I was using the DP2M this morning, though, wandering in a wash west of Wickenburg.

Nice place to be wandering scratchpaddy.

This was my weather a few weeks ago. Handheld! Was hoping the battery didn't die. It was about 5 deg. F out.
thanks

Ouch! Pretty sure you're working outside the recommended operating temperature, there.

My place is pretty great in the winter, but we pay for it in the summer. With interest.

Ivoire, you have really portrayed the winter wonderland beautifully. The exposure is right on, and there is lots of detail. Not easy in such cold weather.

Speaking of cold weather, I thought you had moved to warmer climes?
thanks

Yes, as a doll tester . Actually, that is an exhibition at the local library.

@pinholecam , that's just stunning! Does this mean that you didn't sell the DP1M to pay for your new A7? I hope so.

@ivoire , I really love that second picture. It has a very quiet, peaceful composition. It really reminds me of the very few times I've seen snow myself. That's what I remember about it most: it's so quiet!

Crash testing, eh? Oh, the library! I almost forgot about them. The one in downtown Phoenix is five stories high! All kinds of books there. Their elevator bank is pretty cool.

I almost always stop the 12-24 down to f/8, but I guess it deserves more credit than that. This was wide open (f/4.5) at 12mm and ISO 200:

I returned a book a day late once, and they fined me 10. Can you believe it? What are they going to do with a dime!? When I went to the desk to pay the fine, the clerk asked me, "Do you want to pay it all now?"
No, actually, I only have a nickel. It's gonna take me some time to get all that money together.

No, I did not.
The plan was to sell the DP1m if I got the A7r, I got the A7 (non r)

However, I'm struggling between keeping the wonderful resolution of the DP1m or sacrificing the absolute quality for a bit more versatility of the A7.

Appreciate your comment. I did use a tripod in the 8 degree weather. As for warmer, I'm traveling on the 19th. Will be good to get on the beach for 2 months.

Yeah, i find that it gets very quiet when the snow falls. It seems to draw me out to wander a bit.

Congrats on the A7. I've been following several A7/7r threads. Looking forward to some images from you. I'm still undecided on a full frame purchase
