that´s a premium folding bike!

I am just learning how the Foveon sensor works on my DP2M so I made this little excercise to see the difference with the K-5IIs. I thought I´d share it with you. Both shots made at ISO100, f/5.6, 0.5sec
I only applied -1.5 sharpness in SPP and then worked both files in lightroom just by adjusting WB and highlights down to -100 on both files. Aso added 50 clarity and 10 saturation on K-5 shot to match the clarity of the foveon sensor. I think that´s the biggest difference I found.

Here are the shots:

A.

B.

Before looking at the exif info in flickr try seeing them at 100%:

What do you think?

Cool pictures again, I really love those trains. The dogs are cool too!

My work for today, a typical Dutch setting:

Both of those dog pics look great. I'm not sure which is which. This just makes me think more n more about getting a GR and a DP3M.

The bike is convenient and comfortable. came without a premium price. The guy sell them for about 1/2 the price of most competitors

I often watch trains just to see the graffiti. Would be kinda cool if the railroad sponsored a competition and then moved the winning "atrists" n cars around the country for viewing

some hints: Look for moiré, detail in the bed sheets, color saturation.

Take into account that the K-5IIs picture needed +50 clarity to match the look of the DP2M. This subject and scene in this case were "clarity friendly" but other secenarios won´t be as easy to match (acuity most sure)
I like the GR + DP3M idea.

I look PURELY at the impression of sharpness/clarity in the dog's coat I'd love to see puppies done with say DP2M or SD1M with 35mm Art

I think the others are right (B = DP2M). It's hard to judge by sharpness alone when they're downsized (the largest option on Flickr is 2048 wide), but the colors in B say Foveon to me. Orange/brown tones tend to come out more greenish on a Foveon, and your dog's brown areas are definitely more greenish in B. The bokeh in B looks familiar to me, too.

@ivoire , the graffiti on those trains is really fun to pick through. That "poem" on the second one is interesting. I'm pretty sure they're quoting from somewhere, but every "I" is spelled "eye." (HATRED AND PAIN IS ALL EYE FEEL)

I took the SD1 to the foundry again yesterday, but I had the Art zoom this time. Last time, I only had the 12-24.

Even at f/1.8, you can see every pixel on the computer screen.

The Foveon is really well-suited to industrial scenes. 18mm f/1.8

12mm f/8

18mm f/2.8

Foveon vs CMOS Dog picture

Well, everybody guessed right. A was taken with K-5IIs + F28/2.8 and B was taken with the DP2M.
I´ve uploaded both pictures to Dropbox in 100% resolution / IQ export in case anyone want to check them out in detail.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mz93ll0bnz9usmj/AABfAcSVoNK1QAXZXK8rKv_Da

Main differences I´ve found for this type of scene:
- Clarity in DP2M is outstanding
- Color rendition was better on the DP2M while the K-5IIs needed some saturation and vibrance to match it. (I work on a calibrated IPS monitor)
- Color saturation was better on DP2M. K-5 tends to blow reds / pinks fairly easy.
- The F28 rivals the lens on the DP2M, that´s some merit to the old F lens.

I´ll make another test with the same gear but will profile both sensors so that there´s one less variable

Still stunning when you get it right and take your time.
