Cool pic
Thanks.

The Marumi works very well with the DP3. And it doesn't seem to negatively impact image quality at all.

Anything but masterpieces, but these are my first shots with my newly acquired dp2 Merrill. Didn't manage to get out of doors until just before the sun went down. I think I have a lot to learn a lot about PP with this camera. I suspect I ran it through noise reduction and sharpening twice, once in Sigma photo pro, which I used to create a TIFF file, and then in photoshop. I'd grateful for suggestions about work flow.

Winter, the weather and my schedule have conspired to prevent from me making much use of my new d2 Merrill. Here are a few shots I managed today. I'm beginning to warm to the camera.

I finally managed to process my first DP3M photo. I had to play with the tone curve to get this one into an acceptable range... the sky vs the nearer houses had a large difference in exposure.

Something about this image--v. nice. Despite unrelieved bleakness of the day, I ventured out with my dp2 M. Under the fading Canadian National insignia is a hardy birdwatcher.

Mine (DP1) is on the top in your list. Does it mean it is the best?
This little camera produces amazing photos under right light conditions. Unfortunately mine does not get much use these days.

This is really nice.

I have a question about the Auto White Balance in the DP3M. It has been driving me crazy.

I have two recepies for applying WB.

1. I set the photo to Daylight and then use the dropper in Sigma Photo to white balance.

2. I set the photo to Auto (the original setting) and use the dropper to white balance.

I need to get the same white balance for all photos in a HDR set. Thus this is important to get done correctly.

However, when shooting a sunset, as in my photo a few posts back, method 1 produces the pinkish skies... and method 2 produces and orangish/yellowish tone. I thought that IF I white balance a photo on the same white patch, it should produce the same colours. I produce consistent results with ALL white balance presets (the results are indistinguishable), and not just with Daylight. It is only the AUTO setting that is doing something funny.

Is anyone aware HOW the Auto WB works in the Merrills? Is it perhaps applying different settings to different areas of the photo? Or using some other method that could produce these results?

On first glance this may look like I did not WB it correctly, or did it in different ways. However, please note, that except for the difference described above, both crops have been WB on the same patch of white, etc.

A spot of color on an otherwise bleak and wintry day (together with a shot more characteristic of the day).
