Though having already a two system setup, currently I would not know where to go. There is too much movement in the market, and one thing I won't do for sure again is using an underdog. So I keep waiting, shooting my Pentax 80% of the time and only 20% my Canon. Fuji has my interest, but I wait and see how that 23/1.4, the 56/1.2 and the 10-24 is going to be....

Yes the Fuji cameras are interesting - but the thing that put me off is the specialised De-mosaicing needed for the raw files - which possible could make the files next to unreadable in the future. and Also the fact that all the lenses focus by wire...I cannot stand using the Canon EF85mm f/1.2 L for that very reason. I felt sorry for the focus pullers who work with lenses like that. Focus by wire systems always have some latency and they are never as responsive or give the tactile feedback that a direct manual focusing system does.

Nikon.
Mind you, Pentax would have to *really* screw up their next flagship releases for this to become an issue. I am very happy with the performance of my K-5's and the quality of my glass.

Separated at birth?

The OM-D pushes a lot of my buttons. Olympus seem to have a strategy, some kind of plan going into the future. I have no idea where Pentax is going. Mind you, I'm not dumping my Pentax stuff -- not now, not for a while. However... I'm quite serious about buying into M43. I'm gonna wring it out and see what it can do.

I find that picture a little hilarious, considering how many people on this forum like to rag on Fuji/Olympus for doing 'retro' cameras, and failing to understand that Pentax did basically the same thing with the MZ/ZX series. Small, light, but fully functional AF SLR's with a traditional look and control layout. They are awesome cameras. I should run some film through mine.

And they were "Full Frame" too

Hmmm... on the other hand, they are coming up with better RAW conversions... and I love being able to adapt nearly any manual focus lens to the camera (no focus by wire there!), plus the Fuji lenses tend to be excellent. By comparison - I think it was Lumious Landscape or perhaps another review that said the NEX is like shooting with a toaster.

But this is merely my current candy store drooling. Really, the K-30 is about the ideal for APS-C, with the focus peaking etc.

I wouldn't want to switch. Pentax makes fantastic lenses. If I did...probably go to Canon as along with my 3 Pentax DSLR's...I also have a Canon G 12 and a Canon 430 EX 11 flash.

.

That sounds about right - I was never impressed by the ergonomics of mirrorless cameras these days. For me the Leica M series cameras hold the gold standard for size and balance - though the absence of a film rewind lever on the digital M bodies has cramped the style of many Leica aficionados.

I am really keen on the Canon 6D at the moment for the built in GPS. I love the idea in years to come of being able to go through a map with all our family photos on. Not keen on tagging photos manually though or using a hot shoe GPS receiver. GPS is probably the only reason I'm keen on the 6D though, and maybe the fact that the Canon system has more affordable lenses and better "ecosystem".

I am going to wait though and really hope that the next Pentax offerings come with inbuilt GPS as size and weight/portability are important for me and Pentax do a good job of this.
Not ideal but (a) depending on your Pentax camera you could buy the Pentax GPS unit, or (b) buy a separate manual GPS logger.

Yeah, I looked at that, but it's quite pricey and takes up the hotshoe so can't use my flash. Anyway, I have since learned that I can drag photos onto a map in Lightroom and apply GPS data that way, so that is doing me just fine for now. Looks like Canon will have to wait for my money

Not a complete switch but i sold my most expensive Pentax glass to fund a u4/3 incursion (I kept my K7, K2, MZ5n and Pentax manual glass). Was I disappointed with Pentax? No!

My change was simply a question of needs, the Pentax gear was way to much heavy for travelling, (Pentax K7 + 16-50 + 1 or 2 lenses and you get a 2Kg bag), with u4/3 I get a relatively cheap system that delivers quality images on par with my K7 (probably a bit better on high ISO) but weights much less, Olympus E-PL5 (325gr) + 14/2.5 (55gr) + 20/1.7 (100gr) + 45/1.8 (116gr) that's less then 600gr for a great basic prime KIT, if you prefer zooms you have nice alternatives on u4/3 .

I kept my old manual glass for shooting film and keep my K7 running, the m28/3.5 is such a joy to use

Since I moved to Pentax for small and light in the first place, I'd switch to Olympus. But I have no real desire to switch at this time. I've only just begun my Limited lens collecting spree!

I owned the Pentax K7 and K10D plus about 10 Pentax lenses and a bunch of Pentax accesories. I recently sold the lot. I considered Canon and Nikon DSLRs as replacements. I have no interest in MILC having owned Panasonic GF1, GF3, G1 and Olympus EPL2 and found them all wanting. I have a Ricoh GRD4 for compact, and for me, a DSLR is the right choice as a complement.

I got out of Pentax because on reviewing my photos, I found the ones taken in 2006 with the Nikon D40 I owned previously were amongst my best. I also, if I may be frank, got extremely tired of the online "community" of Pentax users, a core of whom who seem to revel in their own misery and moaning.

I had a good look at the Canons and almost bought a 5D. It's a terrific camera still. I still had some Nikon glass from my D40 and earlier Nikon film days though, so an old Nikon D50 was purchased. It's Nikon's oldest consumer DSLR, with a 6MP APS-C CCD sensor capable of gorgeous images, a 2000-shot battery, and the smallest that has both a top LCD and focussing motor. These features are now reserved only for Nikon's mid and top tiers, which are larger. I'd skip all those though and get a D600 full-frame in the future. All my Nikon lenses are "full frame" so I feel perfectly well set up. Also, unlike the Canon, all the vintage Nikon lenses are compatible and I have ready access to these at good prices in Tokyo. The D50 may be old ( I bought mine used, mint and boxed, for less than US$100 ) but it focusses more accurately than my old K7, exposes more accurately, and has a 1/500 flash sync. It's a great camera. I use it with an old screw-drive AF-D 50mm 1.8 and the famous old Tokina 28-70 2.8 mainly.

No regrets from leaving Pentax. I have as much interest in brand loyalty as a photon :-)

I enjoy using Pentax 35mm film SLRs. My only digital camera is a Fuji viewfinder model.
DSLRs don't really interest me. If I felt I needed one I'd probably look at Fuji's first.
