IMHO, Canon had to respond to the Nikon D7100's AF system. That was a clear shot that Nikon wasn't afraid to push more pro features down into APS-C land.
I'm actually impressed w/ the 70D's features....they finally stepped up their game to one-up Nikon instead of playing follow the leader. *19* cross-type AF sensors is very impressive as is the dual-pixel focusing improvement. Their main mis-step is the 98% OVF because everyone has gone to 100% OVF.
But this also means their next EOS-M might not suck :-)
And I have no idea how Pentax is going to respond....super duper AF has never been their strength :-(
